Why do so many car salesmen post FB pictures with people who buy cars?

Has anyone ever asked you to do this?

I decline.

They try to do it for my bike purchases.

No thanks.

I get that, but it takes some fricking balls to put the screws to someone and then ask them to help you do it to more people

Try to gain credibility in a world where a ton of homebuyers are utilizing social media. Imagine there are two salesman and one person posts tons of pictures of the deals he's made on social media; the other does not. You would be more inclined to go to the picture guy because you have seen his results.

If you get the screws put to you, you aren't smart enough to realize it or realize the intent of the picture.

I just remember super recently there was an escaped criminal who bought or leased a car from a dealership and he willingly posed to take a picture with the dealer, and that’s one of the things that help get him caught. So it has its perks

Yes. Courtesy GMC in Lafayette did. I'm too nice to say no. We all lined up and at the last second my husband ducked out mumbling about something. Left me in the photo with the salesman by myself. ??

If they knock a few hundred off then I'll gladly take a picture with them. If not, they can frick off.

I liken the folks who agree to the pics to the people who buy a yeti, turn around and buy a yeti sticker, and don’t realize they are paying yeti to advertise for them

Probably because people buy cars will now think they are famous for appearing on a car dealers Facebook page

I see more people thanking the sales person on IG & FB. I'm fairly sure their team manager suggests this approah.

How many people actually know they are getting screwed at a car dealership?

I just had the salesman himself ask me to get on Facebook and praise him for our deal

I've never seen that on my feed. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

With that being said, it wouldn't surprise me if each sales persons account was linked to the dealerships facebook page. That way management can get a better idea of who is pushing the social media angle.

Since this is a car dealership thread. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the best social media page Scott Smith BMW (SFW)

He said something about it, but I wasn't really paying attention. I was just ready to get out of there, and although I was happy with the deal I got, I wasn't really thrilled with some of his BS and how we had to get to the final deal
