What I find surprising is how defensive coffee drinkers often are. You can tell people you gave up alcohol, cigarettes, junk food, pot, whatever and the response will either be neutral or positive.
Tell them you gave up coffee and a surprising number of people will respond angrily as if you're attacking them.

I gave up caffeine when I quit smoking. It wasn’t by choice. Every time I’d drink coffee or Coke, I’d crave a smoke. So, when I quit smoking, I have those up for about 6 months. Now, a regular cup of coffee makes me feel awful; pounding headache and the shakes bad. Even a couple of sips of regular coffee and I can tell.
I catch a lot of grief for drinking decaf. You’re right about it being one of the few drugs that are so socially accepted that NOT doing it is abnormal.

Know a vegan pothead soccer fan, who cycles everywhere. His behavior is as predictable as one would imagine.
I want to punch him in the face just for breathing, he's so many stereotypes.

You’re not wrong. But when it’s a clear vice, it’s a little different. I don’t hear people defending cigarettes or meth. But pot has its defenders big time. “Pot isn’t addictive” “It doesn’t impair driving” “It isn’t a gateway drug” It’s cool, you like it. It probably should be legalized, but let’s not act like it isn’t a drug that’s meant to alter your natural state.
What doesn't alter your natural state?
Hell, an argument with your wife will alter your natural state. Road rage alters your natural state. Beer alters your natural state. Being excited about something alters your natural state. This message board alters your natural state.

All drug addicts act like this when you question their actions or their drug of choice. Denial can evoke anger and rage.

That's not true. Multiple studies show it's bad for kids and teens. Here's just the first that came up on google for me.
Bad for adolescenec cognitive development
This is why the legal age for consumption is 21+ in legal states, same as alcohol.

I just legally bought a quarter, (7 grams), of strong pot legally in Washington DC from a legalized cannabis store.
Was it legal?

Probably has a medical marijuana card. I live in DC, smoke and there isn’t a place that just sells it like Colorado does.
