I haven't ordered pizza delivery in over a year, wtf is this $2.95 delivery fee that isn't part of the tip, what is the store having to do extra that's worth $3?

Think it has to do with paying for the insurance.

Uh.....deliver it.

The price is based on carryout/dine in.

Part of the fee goes to gas compensation, I believe.

It's nothing more than an included tip, just pay it and nothing more.

I would say maybe because of the expense that comes with providing delivery, but the drivers usually drive their own vehicles right? Maybe they do it to make sure they get their drivers something for having to use their own vehicle. I am sure a lot of people don't tip or if they do give less than $1.

I don't do delivery anymore. The domino's is too close and the $9.99 unlimited topping carryout special is great.

Plus I hate when the tracker shows my Pizza is done and then it's 15-20 minutes before it even leaves to come to me.

It's a small business franchise passing on the government screws to the clients. I still tip the drivers bc it is not their fault. But I tip them based on the total minus they owners delivery fee not given to the driver.

This. I delivered pizza in high school and the owner charged $.75/delivery and paid that to us each night to cover our gas. Man gas prices have really changed in the past 18 years lol

Pays for gas, mileage, insurance, etc. The drivers don't make that money.

In highschool between ball seasons I delivered for a local pizza company. We got paid $1.89/HR plus tips. We got not extra delivery $ from the small business pizza place. Can't blame them. However we often jumped over deliveries when we knew of repeat clients who tipped well. Get how you can get it.

Yep. They get screwed. I did it when I was a kid in high school. The pay was shite because most people are cheap. It was only worth it at the time, because I was selling weed, and it was a great cover gig.

Yes, they do.

And at least for Dominoes it says on the confirmation screen when you order online that the fee does not go to the driver. It is not an included tip. I don't know for sure, but I am pretty sure that it goes towards an additional insurance to cover the company in case of an accident. If an at fault of the driver accident happens then the victim is likely to go after the party that has the deeper pockets, which is probably the restaurant. Also, I have only seen these fees at large national chains like Dominoes. I don't think it is typical for smaller local places.
