Why do phone apps do major overhauls that make things worse?

It’s like the developers have to waste money on improving the app when actually they are screwing it up. I have the Bank of America app that just did this. They completely changed the whole app and made it harder to access all the tools it previously had. I have noticed that they want you to use their digital assistant, Erica. It’s like they need to justify getting paid and mess things up on purpose.

I get adding additional tools but don’t change the whole layout. People don’t like change.

Is it worse or is it better, but just different and you aren't used to it?

my 401K is through nationwide and they have dumbed down the app so much that you can't do anything but look at the balance of your account. You can't even see details of the account. It's like they have to cater to children that can't handle too much on the screen at once.

OP just wants a working app to send and receive telegrams.

Is that asking too much?

Lighten up y’all.

Two or three years ago, Snapchat was the best social media platform. Then one day they changed everything and people were pissed. Instagram came out with stories and Instagram took over as top dog. Snapchat came out and said if we don’t make changes we won’t advance.

It’s worse in my opinion and I’m not a boomer.

I have the BoA app and the new version sucks shite. The Voya app sucks too because it has zero functionality.

Such improvements are capital projects, designed to improve customer experience, improve cyber security, get tax breaks (Capital vs. Ops) and piss people off.

Words With Friends. I paid $5 for ad free years ago, but they later cluttered it with shitty extra features--"You used all the letters in column!" or "You met the goal for the day!--that slow down play and waste as much time as ads.

The reviews on it savage the hell out of those changes, but I guess some nephew who could code had to justify his existence by ruining the once simple app.

My phone worked perfectly fine. It said I needed to update. I did so. It ended up bricking my phone. Sprint said that my phone wasn't compatible for the update. Then why was I asked? Forced me to buy a brand new phone.

Related: the Reddit redesign is treasonous harlotry.

Who do they think is using Reddit, and why, that they'd do this?

Not sure whether it has changed any but Apple used to require that free apps were updated every X months. Paid for apps were exempt.
