Are you going to acknowledge knowingly posting 10+ year old info and passing it off as 2019 facts to further your point when the actual facts would have not helped your point?
Once we get that acknowledged, maybe we can move on.

The amount of raw materials needed to have a considerable % of the US driving electric cars is impossible.
And would do more damage to the earth mining them than oil has ever done

These kids won’t listen to this because the TV tells them electric cars are good and gas is bad. They remind me of the environmentals back in the 80s & 90s saying how we need to all swap from paper grocery bags to plastic because it took so many trees to produce paper bags. Well now 30 years later that great idea to “save the environment” has given us mountains of plastic bags that will sit in landfills for the next 1,000 or so years.

They don’t want to hear that.

I guess now is a bad time to tell them where plastic comes from....

And another question, why are we gonna do with all these batteries when they’ve reached the end of their life?
recycle them

This might be true if we stopped all innovation today.

Why hasn’t musk developed new battery tech. The stuff he’s using is decade + old
I thought he was a super genius

What do you define as "new"? The batteries they are using now are much more efficient and last longer than 10 years ago.

It's like everything else, man.
You are going to have to substitute other limited resources in some fashion to make this transition- and rely on in the future to make it continue. I don't think it will lead to a happier planet as much as something else for world players to compete (fight) over- just like oil. I hate to sound negative- but that's the nature of the world we live in.
I'm certainly not afraid of new technology- I love the idea. But this won't be instantaneous....

If we’ve learned anything about Musk he is rarely if ever accurate.
Tesla hasn’t met one single production projection he has put out.

quote:Exactly, not instaneous. But it is going to happen. Electronic vehicles 100% will be the majority of vehicles on the road at some point, that's just a matter of time.

Haven't read the whole thread. Has anyone posted that ridiculous "study" that claimed a hummer was less harmful to the environment than a prius?
Someone went through the study and it had insano assumptions like the prius would last for 80k miles and the hummer would last close to 400k miles or something like that.
