Seriously. Several threads about trashy family members. You don’t have to put up with family drama. You choose to do it.

Unless you’ve got something coming out of it like an inheritance or something, there’s no reason to subject yourself or your kids to drama and bs.

Just stop buying in to societal pressure and cut those people loose.

I didn’t know I was addressing you as there have been several posts about it.

Most American post ever

What is gained from dreading gatherings? How does that fulfill you and let you live your best life?

Have to be patient for people you care about. They need love and patience too

These people left their families for an 18% raise in Houston. They’re godless heathens.

I have two people in my family that it always turns to some type of drama.. They can turn on the charm and draw you in and then lower the hammer..No thanks I haven't talk to (about a dozen words) one of them in about 7 years and that was because one of our siblings passed away.

My wife's parents are both dead. She puts up with her dickweed brothers because they're the only family she has left, and any family is better than no family.

I realize you’re trying to justify your own loneliness because you abandoned your family over some silly disagreement but some people are mature enough to not let petty arguments at Christmas parties alienate our families over it.

I'm with you. My family is chill as hell. And we don't spend the entire day together, which helps.

It’s odd that you assume loneliness on my part for asking a simple question. Thread after thread and post after post of men here complaining about family drama, yet they continue to partake year after year.

Perhaps it is you who are trying to justify something.

Yeah, you have to put up with drama but they are still family. You will miss them when they are gone.

Guess you’re not a fan of Adam Smith?

His book that he believed was most important was The Theory of Moral Sentiments. The headline conclusion in that one is that people are made best off by fulfilling the obligations they hold towards others.

The wealth of nations gets all the attention, and there is certainly truth in the realization that pursuit of self interests can help people consume more. But by Smith’s own account, that’s not what maximizes utility. Having strong relationships with others and fulfilling your obligations to them does. That starts with the family.

So what I’m getting from this thread is that it doesn’t matter how shitty a person is you should hits put up with it because “family”

Is that what you’re telling me?

Most people secretly love drama

If none is going on, they create some, because they live for it

I could have had drama at inlaws
Luckily after lunch I had to run and pick up couple presents and it ended up taking me 3 hours, they were gone when I got back.

Won’t see them again till next year prob.
Assuming I’m still married then.
