do love how the idea of flipping a tire is somehow considered a complicated workout.
Good point.
OP described his "non-complicated" workout he did that used probably $5000+ in equipment...40 year old mom flipped around an old thrown away tire.
And who got the better workout?

Isn't the point to have a difficult workout instead of just going through the motions? You aren't maximizing your workout if you aren't changing up the routine and challenging yourself.
Maybe you should focus on challenging yourself rather than judging others.

Sounds like you're at LA on yale. The future is now old man.

I always thought it was. If you spend 45 minutes at the gym, you get more bang for your buck doing squats and deadlifts than curls and cable crossovers.
"Difficult" exercises are usually also the most productive at building muscle and strength.

Why do people make working out so difficult?
I joined a gym yesterday for the first time in about 10 years and saw some strange things.
- why does a 40 year old mother of three need to be flipping tires?
- why does every dude need to wear full body under armor under their dry fit outfits?
- what is the Bane breathing apparatus mask people wear when riding the treadmill?
I just did some benches, curls, then 20 minutes on the treadmill. Used to work great, but I guess times have changed. Do I need one of these 25 year old chubby personal trainers to teach me how to back peddle with rubber bands around my calves?
You sound like the typical douche bag that keeps me away from "gyms"
Workout more
Judge less
You life might be happier, I know everyone else's will be.

Yup, you better believe if I'm taking the time to workout, I'm gonna make it worth it.

I don't think I could wear the Bane apparatus even if it works well, just a little too much attention that would draw from people.
My gym doesn't have tires but have flipped them a few times at other gyms. It's simple and can be fun along with being a great full body workout.
I go to the gym for weight room stuff, HIIT classes, basketball, and volleyball (primarily) and try to do stuff outside when the weather is nice. Everyone is a bit different in what they enjoy doing and most will always think their way is the best. If someone works out less than me, they are lazy. If they work out more, then they are too fanatical about exercising.

I love the rope thing.

My workout today will consist of me running to the gym (2.5 miles), a good push day (chest and tris), walk next door and eat sushi and consume copious amounts of wine, then uber home

This is why I love work out threads on the OT.
I flipped some tractor tires up the levee with a friend years ago as a workout and it was the most sore I have ever been
