You mean profit-seeking companies wanting to incorporate all the season's holidays into one all-encompassing phrase that resonates with the most people? I can't imagine why.

The idea of people being offended by "Happy Holidays" is equally as stupid.

Never encountered anyone who took offense to "Merry Christmas."

But, I'd let them have it and embarrass the shite out of one who did.

Many more people are offended by Happy Holidays. I don't know how anyone who isn't a complete moron could find either offensive.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.

I've never met anyone who is offended by "Merry Christmas." Those people only exist in the minds of Fox News and its viewers.

I have met a couple who responded angrily with "we are atheist" when I said Merry Christmas. They may be rare but they are out there.

If there are people who are offended if someone wishes them:

Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays
Happy Hanukkah
etc.

Then those people are whiny pussies that are what is wrong with America.

There are far more people who are offended by the idea of 'Merry Christmas' or 'Happy Holidays' being offensive than people who actually are offended by either statement.

Self-persecution is a bitch and the religious right are champs at creating slights against them that don't exist.

I live in a town full of heathens and everyone says "Merry Christmas."

Anyone thinking Christmas is not a secular holiday now is too stupid to try to convince otherwise.

It is not offensive. People just became too PC in an effort to avoid "offending" those folks that celebrate other forms of a holiday this time of year, e.g., Hannakuh, Kwanza, etc.

Merry Christimas, seriously.

I say Merry Christmas before and the day of Christmas. I generally say Happy Holidays between Christmas and New year's. Easier than saying hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a happy New Year.

The only issue with this is the one the media makes this out to be to antagonize everyone. I am an atheist...and what ever any of you want to wish me for the season all I hear is "I wish you happiness and well being". If you say "god bless you" when I sneeze I say thank you for being polite. And my thoughts on this are the same as most other atheists and agnostics I know. I celebrate Christmas with my family as a tradition peace, love and togetherness without personal recognition of believers of the birth of Christ. I bow my head at Christmas dinner grace but I just don't say amen at the end and am not offended if anyone else does. Yes, there are some militant atheists out there that want to throw a hissy fit over acknowledgement of religion, but the same holds true for many Christians and any one that disagrees with them. As far as I am concerned we need more live and let live and if we disagree it doesn't mean I am evil or you are evil...it only means we see some things differently but in no way means we can't share a drink, a hug or a good tiding and enjoy a nice holiday or Christmas together.

Today I got a email from someone who sigged with Happy Holidays, I've been trying to figure out if I write back and finish with a Merry Christmas if I will be out of line since he already set the tone at HH. Or maybe he just goes HH as not to offend anyone, and would appreciated a MC.
