They tend to have better produce, especially fruit, and probably meat and cheese counters too, but I get most else from a regular grocery store.

the shopping experience is worth the extra $15 a week to me

I gave up fast food for my new year’s resolution and haven’t broken it yet.
Wait, is Dunkin Donuts fast food?

in my experience whole foods is 10x as expensive as publix and you still have to go somewhere else to get the staples unless you just have to have tibetan flour prepared by monks using wooden hammers.

I hate our local whole foods.

same. i went during the holidays with an open mind thinking i would just get a few key things but honestly everything is so over-the-top expensive and hard to find because they have to have WEIRDO BRANDS FOR EVERYTHING that i couldn't even fill a proper shopping list without noting each item i would STILL have to go somewhere else to purchase.
i just put the little basket down in disgust after spending an hour in the store and went to publix and was done in 15 minutes.

Because even with anonymity they still can't help but lie. I believe the obesity rate for Americans is around 40% and higher still for Louisianians. I assure you 40% of this board is fat as frick and the other 60% are overweight.

My grocery bill would easily be double at Whole Foods.

I don't have a Publix

when I compare my grocery bill to WF to other places like Kroger and Brookshires, its only like $15 more

I can get everything I need at WF

between WF, the farmers market, and my local farm store, I rarely, if ever, go to a "normal" grocery store
my grocery bill is typically around $180 per week for a family of 4

you can feel just as smug shopping ECOFRIENDLY at traders and you know going in they have the same 27 items as every other traders and you can get $5 wine.

Their brand beer is cheap as shite and pretty damn good. I remember looking at some that was $4 or $5 for a sixer and thinking it must have been a misprint.

Moving from the rural Midwest to the south was... eye opening in regards to class

No wonder it is only $15 more. You are only buying rice and beans.

We do the Walmart pickup for most things and generally go to a local store and the produce stand for meat and vegetables.

I did make a big batch of white beans last night with our Christmas ham bone

There is at least one thread a week about Chicken Fil A, Popeye’s, or Canes.

Outside of cities with a mega-wealthy stratum, class is probably more obvious here than anywhere else in the country.
The biggest example that comes to mind is a highway that runs through Andalusia that one might take if they were headed to the Panhandle. On your left hand side, within a mile of of one another are two gigantic Neoclassical "plantations" (one seems obviously recent and meant to copy the other). Inbetween them...trailers and run down homes.

I guess WF is like Starbucks where people pretend that regular coffee costs $7?
