Because all of the land has been sold and is occupied by buildings etc. There isn't any room for service roads through BR. Poor planning by the commission.

I think they could add them between Millerville and Juban on I-12 without much trouble except for new bridges over the Amite. Probably between Essen and Bluebonnet too.

It would honestly be very nice if they'd widen the neglected stretch of I-10 between the bridge and College Drive and the section around the Gov Mansion curve on I-110. Another lane, better alignment, and LED lighting would be a HUGE change for that area and a major traffic relief for the region.

Baton Rouge honestly has a lot of "little" infrastructure needs too. A bridge over intracoastal at LA415, a bridge over the Amite at S Harrell's Ferry and at Hooper, a wider LA30 and Airline Highway, etc.

Don't they have service roads between Bluebonnet and Siegen?

That half mile section took 4 years to complete.

Hey dude, that half mile made a consultant firm at the very minimum a high 6 figure fee....that's economic development!!!!

I've also wondered why I-12 is not at the very minimum a uniform 3 lanes from Baton Rouge to the I-10/I-59 split. I mean only about 1 million people (give or take) live along that 85 mile stretch.

devils advocate - one reason could be it concentrates all the development right next to the interstate

Even if development did concentrate near the interstate you still have a service road keeping traffic off the interstate.

People of Louisiana pay for tons of sh!t. Mostly sh!t we don't need because our government is corrupt.
