That may be the most entitled millennial answer ever given.
It is not a millennial issue. Many people of various ages get jobs based on who they know. Some people dont even try to go back to school to get the credential because they know the "right" people.
That being said, it is important to try to get the right education ( that is why I went back to school for 2 years after 5 years at Tech)

If you feel that filling out an application is tedious, then the whole actually working thing is really going to be a ball buster for you.
I believe you have a misunderstanding. It is not filing out the info that is the problem. It is filing out literally 20 or so applications per day. It is never finding an opportunity to find an intern that could make you more marketable. And it is the fact that you can not try to call or use other means of talking to companies to better your position.
I have no issue applying to alot of jobs. I understand that the market is a guessing game even for the better jobs.

It does not always work as an affirmative action tool. Some minorities benefit from it. However, the sheer tediousness of the application combined with employers incentive to rush for candidates ensures that alot of people do not stand a chance of even getting their application reviewed.
It would be easier to simply have a job handed to you via a contact. Unfortunately I do not have one.
Correct. I would say applying online has become almost more inefficient because its too easy to send in an application. I would say if you had to go in person it would make a bigger difference.

I checked off "black" as my ethnicity on the application for this job... But I only did so because the first few times I applied, I selected white.. So just for shits and giggles I checked off "black". And I got this job
No one has said anything about it yet sooo
Wonder how that conversation would go.
"So we went back through some old files. And we discovered that you had marked off that you're black. Explain"
I'd probably get away with it. Because I identify myself as a proud African American Woman who don't need no man.

You would think so.... But 90% of the places you go into say "We don't have physical applications. You'll have to do it online"

There are certain tax breaks and incentives the company can receive by hiring various demographics.

It's a quick and easy test to ensure that a potential employee has basic computer skills.
