Divorces occur for 2 reasons:
1. Difference in sex drives
2. Differences in financial concerns
In that order
I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I think it’s more complicated. I think most divorces occur because at least one spouse loses respect for the other (or themselves). That’s pretty broad but I think is the essence of it.
Also, marriage is just hard. I’ve been married for a while. We are doing well but it’s not easy.
I think the dream marriage narrative probably does a disservice to everyone getting married.
There is also something to just not getting divorced (assuming both parties are relatively trying for the most part). Just surviving the rough periods. Next thing you know you’ve been married forever and you have this comfortability/history with this one person. It feels like love to me.
I can’t imagine starting over with someone new. The process of learning/accepting each other’s faults is like buying a car at a dealership.

This is a compliment. You sound like a thoughtful, mature person.

That’s a shame. I’m sorry about that.
My little brother went through a terrible divorce and I hated to see his heart broken like that - I hate that for anyone.

I think one set of keys to it is 1) Not freaking out over shite and 2) Not doing shite that someone could reasonably really freak out over.
