Not pre-rinsing your dishes is the primary cause of early failure of the solenoid valves in a dishwasher.

Not worth arguing about.I just rearrange what she loaded in a coherent manner. My dishwasher instruction book says you don’t have to pre-rinse But I do it anyway,

Of course it says that. They want you to suffer through breakdowns and repairs. The odds are you'll get tired of fixing it and buy a new one sooner.

There are just two of us now, so it takes days to fill up the dishwasher - no way are the dishes going to get clean unless I rinse them first.

Clearly, some of us wimmenfolk are capable of loading / unloading a dishwasher. We also do the cooking. And the laundry. It doesn't take an engineering degree to do these things...

And I am not the one in our marriage who can never, ever, ever admit to being wrong.

Just sayin'

Mine thinks as long as it’s in the dishwasher, then it’s good. Always stacks shite on top of other things. It’s sad.

Running mine now. Happens like once a month.
And it was perfectly loaded.

rinse the dishes before they go in.
In 24 years of using a dishwasher, I have never done this stupid shite.

I’ll give my mom the credit that’s due; She was like a Tetris master making all the cups fit on the top rack of the dishwasher.

Correct. It is not that they can't do it, it's that they do not want to do it. They know someone will come behind and take care of it for them.

One of life’s great mysteries. My happy place is alone in the kitchen for 20 minutes every night doing the unload and reload of the dishwasher. Pour a drink, throw in a dip, and do it right. My only complaint is none of them dry everything properly. We’ve had three in this house and none of them dry. Plates are fine but cups and bottles never dry all the way.

This....but to add to that joy...you get that hand towel and wipe each wet item properly as you place it precisely in the cabinet.
