I was in TX last week, in Houston, SA, and Dallas. 14 of the 15 businesses (including hotels) I went in had mandates still in place

Truth is there is no regional identity anymore in America. Big city people from Houston, to New Orleans, to New York, to San Fran are all the same now, and your rural folks in upstate New York, northern cal, and south la all have a lot in common
It’s simply rural vs urban

You sure did rile up the Masked Covidians with this thread.
Sort of shocked at how defensive they are over their chin diapers.

I’m surprised they’re up this early to downvote. They usually don’t become active until after mommy makes them chicken tendies for lunch.

Exactly, that's how we perpetuate this force narrative that went way off rails very early.

I was in Houston Friday-Sunday last weekend. Every place I went required a mask for entry.
some folks told me this wasn't the case......welp, I guess alot of business owners are still mandating them.

Governor said its not mandated

this is a bold assumption that you have no firm idea on

Careful, you could be shitting on someone going through chemotherapy that still has to wear the masks around people while their white blood cells are extremely low. I know because I'm one of those people for the next three months and I've had some idiot arse redneck try giving me shite about wearing a mask in line at a gas station waiting to buy some water and snacks.
Whoa, are you expecting people to take a measured, reasonable approach to a social situation?

Maybe half the people in Bucees are from out of state, like you

That’s surprising. What businesses did you go to?
I live in Houston now and only one place has mandated a mask since it was lifted a few weeks ago. And that was the Science museum.
As someone linked in another thread, over 99% of businesses in Houston have no mandate. Can’t speak on SA or Dallas

Actually someone said just the opposite.

If the store has a sign that says “mask required,” I wear a mask, because I’m not an entitled scab who thinks he can do as he pleases in a private business

This is a good general rule of thumb. But what about the businesses that have a sign just to be safe from government overreach? The owners most likely don’t give a shite either way or another if you wear a mask
This. I've been telling you all for a year now that it's this but no one seems to be listening. Not even my own friends and family members that are around me.
I'm not exaggerating when I say this. I have not worn a mask one time to this entire thing and I live just outside of New Orleans. All the big box stores have the signs out there strictly to cover their arse. I've been in all of them and none of them have ever told me anything about not wearing a mask. Even liberal arse Whole Foods based in Austin Texas let you come in and take a little 5 question survey and they take a forehead temperature and you're on your way into the store without a mask.
The emergency order in Louisiana has exemptions for people with medical conditions. Do you think these corporations want to be liable for not having exemptions? Do you think they're going to spend the time to shake down every customer without a mask to determine if they have a medical condition that warrants being exempted?
They hope that everybody just puts a mask on so they don't have to deal with all the Karen's complaining and just avoid the conflict but they're certainly not going to harass you or kick you out the store for not wearing one and they'd much rather have your money and patronship then to piss you off and not only lose the revenue in the moment but potentially a future customer for the rest of your natural life. Now with that said, that doesn't mean you're not going to run into that one ignorant blue hair employee who might frick with you but they generally don't have those types employed in my area. Get in where you fit in.

Gonna be out in hill country the next few days. I'll wear it if a business still requires it, but I'm looking forward to using it as little as possible. Not in Austin either, so I like our chances

I live in Dallas and many businesses still require masks.
