Exactly. You don't make it out of Africa and to America by being an idiot. Most immigrants easily climb into the middle class which grows out economy. The problem with Trump and his supports view they see as a zero sum game aka they took our jobs. So they do not support immigration.

Trump’s comments in question have nothing to do with illegal immigration and the US doesn’t have a problem with illegal immigrants from Africa.

Here in Louisiana, damn near everyone has a car, air conditioning in their house/apartment, WiFi, a smartphone, a stable job or welfare from the government, food in the pantry and milk in the fridge. And that's something many, many shithole countries do not even have.

My ancestors came here from southern England and northern France. Even sailed on a few of the same ships together. Those were not shitholes at the time.
My grandmother's brother did a lot of research into this for me. He loves doing ancestry stuff.

Decent spin. You missed the point entirely or are simply choosing to ignore it. My point is that many posters in here are claiming we only want the best and brightest in this country. When in fact not many people from Louisiana, statistically speaking, are the best and brightest. Quite the opposite, actually in just about every metric you can use. I find it ironic, and a bit funny that so many have this high opinion of themselves even though they were raised in the a-hole of this country. That’s all. Hell, I’m one of them. It has nothing to do with their access to air conditioning.
And what a sentence. Please forgive me. By all means, continue to look down on folks born into poverty, Louisiana citizens.

It’s not about them being shitholes. The entire world understands that Kenya is a shithole. The point is that Trump made a comment about letting in people from these shitholes, and acted as though folks born in those areas are worthless and therefore undeserving of being here. That’s pretty asinine to say, considering the African population in the US isn’t living in poverty, and it takes a certain amount of wealth to move here from Africa in he first place.
Dumbing it down to people being upset at simply the word “shithole” is disengenuous. It’s the context of his quote that matters. But you know that already.

No it’s not. The entire point is that people who are likely of lesser intelligence, many in worse health, and many have less money than an African immigrating here somehow manage to think of themselves superior, simply because they were born in the US. Never mind the fact that they were raised in a state that is near the bottom in nearly every metric available when it comes to status.

The folks immigrating here from somewhere like Africa generally do not have most those traits. But since Africa as a whole is a shitty place, they associate that with the individual wanting to immigrate here.
What if the mayor of nashville said, “why are we letting all these fat Louisianans move here?” If you’re one of very few who isn’t fat and are from Louisiana, you’d probably find that comment ridiculous. The point is simple. Africa as a continent =\= the individual from Africa who wants to immigrate here.
Also, side note- we don’t get people from Norway because Norway is already awesome and they don’t want to come here.
