Why Are the Coronavirus Death #'s From CDC Drastically Lower Than Elsewhere?

They only count ACTUAL corona deaths. Not people that die of other shite that happened to have corona when they died.

A guy with corona that, for instance, jumped off a building...didn’t die of corona, he died of hitting the ground at high speed. But a lot of places count it as such.

^^ Encouraging, but not sure event that much is true.

I think CDC omits non-tested covid deaths. But still includes things like cardiac arrest from 90-year-olds who test positive for covid. - regardless of how serious the covid case was. Could have been the snifles. But the positive lab test put that type of cardiac arrest death in the covid category.

LINK This is an article saying even the CDC includes probable deaths now, and those are people that weren’t ever tested but showed symptoms of the virus before dying.

Maybe it’s delayed because of processing associated with death codes? Or states are reporting COVID-19 deaths but not notating it on the certificate?

I don’t have the final answer, but I think the “discrepancy” is how data is grouped and classified.

For example, even a casual look at the chart indicates that the CDC isn’t claiming 24555 corona deaths.

It’s at least 35,625 (cases where corona was listed as a sole contributor to death combined with cases where corona plus pneumonia were the cause of death).

Where the rest of the difference might be, I don’t know. I suspect the column on the right might be its own catagory rather than the sum of the other causes like the title indicates (numbers don’t add up). So maybe some portion of that quantity is attributed to COVID-19 in state reporting?

It freaking says why on the CDC website. They are only counting when death certificates received by CDC. That will be a bit of lag time. This is no different than lag time in Louisiana which is about 3 days from parish coroner reporting before it hits the state stats.
