okay, just for amusement, you are the judge. How do you rule?

From a layperson perspective (I'm not a lawyer), I think she's guilty of the crime of killing her children and should be punished for that.

I'm not a fan of the not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility (insanity plea) and the burden on the prosecution to prove she was sane at the time of her crime. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's ruled that way.

I'd argue that if it was to that point that she was searching on the internet ways to kill her kid that she was sane enough to take herself to an ER for voluntary commitment.

She won’t get that in Mass. Put her in jail for life. General population. They’ll take care of her.

That's fine if you want to complain about women who think she shouldn't be convicted or that are out protesting and donating to her GoFundMe. My argument isn't that she shouldn't be convicted and I've never said that.
The argument that PPD/PPS is a potentially dangerous situation is reasonable, but the discussion of “she was failed by the system” is the act of removing her accountability.

I disagree with that, and like I said earlier, and how this is the first time female mass psychosis over a mother murdering her children has occurred, had this been anyone other than a white woman, no one would care what happened to her.

I respectfully disagree acknowledging that the system failed her absolves her from responsibility.

It might for Karen from Boston who is protesting outside of the courthouse. But I'd say the same for the dudes who showed up to support Andrew Tate on social media outside of where he was detained. People are fricking weird.

I must have missed a lot of details but I thought someone posted everything done for her by the husband and medical community. How did the system fail her? Again, I’m not stating it didn’t, but I was under the impression she had a LOT of help

This would’ve been a good post if you didn’t pull in an Andrew Tate/men reference

So strange

the problem is that most of the people screaming that the system failed her are doing so with the INTENTION of absolving her from responsibility. but i agree with you. a system can fail someone and the are still responsible for their own actions. the system has failed a lot of people who didnt kill their kids.

This is going to be a little lengthy and you're welcome to skip it, but wanted to clarify:

I have some questions about some of the folks who were prescribing to her and their qualifications of being legitimately trained in managing post-partum depression and/or psychosis. You see it a lot in the field where someone claims they're a specialist but all they've done is a small number of trainings and didn't get supervision while practicing for treating that specific group. Its an accountability issue in our field.

I don't think we have enough in-patient facilities that treat post-partum specifically and the one she tried to access refused her because she was on "too many meds". If you're an inpatient facility, you should have access to doctors and hospital facilities that are capable of detox. We shouldn't be turning away someone for that.

I think people attempted to help, but they were outside of their professional scope and ended up doing harm instead.

I was simply providing an example on the other side of the male/female spectrum (the discussion has been this is a phenomenon exclusive to women).

IMO those folks are just the opposite ends of the same horseshoe.

Sure it does.

It implies the system was at fault for the outcome of her actions.

She never would have committed these acts had the system acted right.

There are always going to be weird outliers.

The people supporting this murderer have raised nearly $1 MILLION dollars for a person who has murdered her three children.

This isn’t a “weird outlier group”.

This is mass white female psychosis in support of a woman who murdered her three children.

That is insane.

Did Andrew Tate murder his own three children?

I think he is an absolute douchebag a-hole but comparing the two is insane

She

Murdered

Her

Three

Children

There is nothing that will make me sympathize with her

She one by one strangled her tiny littler children to death.

I do think had she gotten access to providers who knew what they were doing and was able to access the post-partum specific facility that's a possibility.

Again, I have to disagree here. I've seen far more discussion on post-partum treatment access than I have absolving her of what she did.

But that's also likely the circle of people I have around me/that I interact with. I don't hang out with women who would willingly go protest outside of the courthouse like her. Most of the folks I've seen or know just acknowledge how awful the whole situation is.

She could have gone to some of the best places and she would still find a way to frick it up and kill the source of her discomfort. She lied over and over. She went looking for meds left and right. She was changing or adding meds before they even had a chance to fully take effect. These therapists and docs and NPs probably helped hundreds of women before she came around. Yet you at least partially blame them. You don’t realize that this could happen to you. Someone you treated could go on a killing spree and blame what you did or didn’t do. Bet you wouldn’t be so empathetic then.

No, instead he has 42 charges against him for sex trafficking, assault, and child pornography.

That's a touch more than just a douchebag. And pretty gross to support him as well.

Bluegrass I’m sure you are great at your job

But you’ve spent most of the day defending a person who killed three kids

Life ain't that black and white baw.

I haven't spent a lick of time researching the facts of this case so I don't have an opinion one way or another right now.

Again, you are more than welcome to find where I said she shouldn't be punished or that she didn't kill her kids.
