No it’s not. It’s easy to punish them. You kill 3 children, you get your wish and the state does the work for you with some chemicals. End of story.
Massachusetts doesn’t even have the death penalty.

I think it’s more of a punishment to live with her guilt and shame in a mental health facility. Death is the easy way out.

she was born in 1920, so she lived through quite a lot

My grandmother, the one who raised me, was born in 1920

Grew up dirt poor on a farm in rural north Alabama during the Great Depression.

Saw her 5 bothers and her husband go off to fight WWII.

Raised her two children plus the bastard child of her younger sister who got knocked up during WWII.

Buried both her parents, her husband, and both her children between 1966 and 1971.

Was left to raise her two grandchildren, aged 1 (me) and 2 all by herself.

Never visited a shrink, never took antidepressants. And despite raising 5 children, and my brother and I were pure hellions, didn’t killed a single one of us.

Fine. She can die in prison where pedos and child killers often die the way they deserve. A mental health facility is to make her better. For treatment. For what? No thanks.

The state would be finishing the job the woman tried to do herself by jumping out the window. I think the situation is tragic and she will hopefully be in a psych facility (but the prison kind, not the kind where you go to get better) for life since i don’t think that state has the death penalty. But to treat this case like that of a woman who was out clubbing after her kid was killed, isn’t right IMO.

like I said in an earlier post - sometimes you have to put on your big girl panties and deal with it

and if she gets better but can’t leave - what does it matter?

She would likely go to a “forensic psychiatric center”, a prison for insane people. It’s prison but they are equipped to handle mentally ill prisoners.

Go find a woman in real life and I can guarantee you no one will defend this.
I wouldn’t be so sure.

I had to walk a coworker through why just because you go batshite insane with PPD and the mental health professionals failed you doesn’t mean you didn’t commit heinous, premeditated murder.

Oh. Just tax dollars to help a murderer.

We should treat it like a woman who killed 3 small children by strangling them one by one in a basement. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

I feel like if Misery was made today, these same women would claim Kathy Bates was just misunderstood and Caan was to blame and deserved everything he got. She’s a strong, powerful woman who was a little angry because of all the misogyny in the world.

So you don’t agree that’s where she should be? Good.

no, that’s not what I said

She needs to be put away - somewhere - whether or not it’s jail or a psych center I have no control over it - my tax dollars go to either place no matter scar

Just like I don’t have any control over where my other tax money goes to.

Suddenly claiming you have no control is a cool little cop out when you want to avoid a real response. You could have just said we all don’t have control over what happens to her from the start and left the thread. You either have an opinion or you don’t.
