I was impressed until Clark Griswold destroyed it.

Did the inner circle tour a couple of years ago. Worth it. A couple things of note I found: they laid their tools in the exact same spot to the point they left indentations. Also, they had some initials carved in the stones. I thought they were just vandals. Partially correct. There is a couple sets of initials left there by kids. They grew up to design some very famous cathedrals.

I had a chance to visit last year but the tours were sold out

We ended up doing castle tours instead. As a kid, I would have been bored to death. I appreciate more of that kind of thing now.

My question is where did the stones come from? It’s not in a rocky area looking at pics, it sits on what appears to be an alluvial plain

No that it isn’t a great feat... but what’s really dumb is people who thinks it’s aliens.

So these super advanced life forms with very advanced technology traversed the galaxy, and when they got here their grand feat was.. stacking some big rocks in a circle???

Wasn't it the distance that they were moved (hundreds of miles)?

I could stand up next to a mountain, and chop it down with the edge of my hand if I wanted to.

The sarsen stones came from nearby. The bluestones came from Wales about 200 miles away.
