Why are local news stations websites so terrible? Pop-ups as far as the eye can see.

Auto play commercials.
Permission requests galore.
Login requests.
They are stuck in 2005 and are THE worst web experience.
Why?????

They are poor. Unless you pay for subscriptions then this is what you get.

You know there's a simple way to not see ads on the internet.

The whole of the internet sucks right now. Google searches are garbage, adds are everywhere all the time. Most webpages look the same, boxy and designed to be viewed on 3 inch screen.
With AI is is going to be even worse. As they kill the majority of sites, directing traffic from only a handful of go-to websites the majority will not be used/seen and die.
Honestly, I'm hoping for some new computer virus that will wipe the thing out.

WBRZ isn’t bad. But WAFB puts cancer on my computer so I avoid it.

Broadcast TV is dying like newspapers did, they have to make money somehow

I personally hate the cookie request popup more than anything in the world.

WWL checks in as the worst.
Malwarebytes kept blocking their tracker and the stupid Admiral popup would stop any page in a heart beat.
I didn’t know Malwarebytes was blocking them so it took me until yesterday before I realized it was them. Now my computer has ADS on the their site.

The internet from 1998 - 2005 was the best. Much more free and interesting. You really didn't have to worry about being doxed either. That was never in the realm of possibility.

That's how they make money. Yes, it's pretty annoying.
