Why are a large percentage of car salesmen fat?

I've know a few of them in my lifetime and you're pretty much right. They do work long hours to make their sales and are not really doing anything physical to accomplish that.
Add to that the ones I knew usually ate junk food for lunch, and sometimes dinner, plus the dealerships put out donuts, snacks, coffee, juice for their customers in for service issues that the employees also raid and it's a recipe for obesity.

Work long hours and being on a car lot everyday means energy drinks/soda & fast food. Fwiw, not a car salesman, but imagine this is why

you eat what you have access to and very stressful long hours of activity, while not strenuous, is still going to breed a good apatite and there is a giant tray of donuts right in front of you that you smell and walk passed 90 times a day
you got to have some kind of enormous willpower to eat healthy under those conditions

As a retired GM I can tell you why we hire fat salespeople. They help keep the cars clean when they walk the inventory.
