Bingo

And you're suggesting that politics doesn't influence the market?
You know why Texas is a great place to do business and get an affordable living? Because the politics there wants to make it a great place to do business and be able to afford to live there.
California politics doesn't. The middle class is being priced out of that state.
The middle class is being priced out of everywhere. It's happening in Austin and Houston and Atlanta too. It's just not as bad as California yet.
What is Texas doing to make living affordable? Trading income taxes for property taxes?

And the reason why Southerners are saying that it's a shithole is because the politics there make it a shithole live in. The great topography and fantastic weather is basically lipstick on a pig to them.
You can live as far away from the big cites and coastal CA and they still control a lot of your daily life as they still control the state's purse strings, the power of the state government for red tape and taxation and is a guaranteed 55 electoral votes for the democrat every four years.
People saying that the big cities aren't necessarily reflective of the state is incredibly misleading and/or only half true.

Thanks for answering.
It does paint a completely different picture. If you just look at total numbers youre looking at California having 31x what Louisiana has but if you do it per capita it's only 3.5x

How would you compare it to the politics in Louisiana? Look, I am born and raised in Louisiana. I am proud to be from Louisiana, but the politics in this state sucks. It is a lot cheaper to live in that in California.. But you also have to account for the fact that in California, the overall cost of living is higher.. And people make more. Minimum wage in California is $11/hr.

unless you have like 8 kids this simply isn't true
Well I should have come to you for advice then. The job was in the heart of downtown. Anywhere nearby in a decent school system district was at least $3000/month for a 3 bedroom. At least. Not to mention, L.A. schools all seemed to be shite unless you were in a wealthy area or sending the kids to private school.
Homes were selling for at least $750k in decent school districts. Maybe we could have saved some money if we lived in Santa Clarita or towards San Bernardino, but according to Google Maps, that was at least 60 minutes during rush hour.
So long commutes, subpar housing, and shitty schools. Sounds lower middle class to me.

I think a lot support him because he has an R by his name. There are the true believers of course, but I tend to be optimistic and think even a lot of those that voted for him, are able to recognize he is a completely incompetent bafoon that conned them. I could be wrong though.
Anyway, so far so good imo. He has no legislative achievements outside of some tax cuts that will be reversed in a few years when the Republicans decide the debt is a big deal again. He doesn't have any real convictions, has no policy knowledge, and is quite literally one of the worst leaders in memory. He wont pass a single significant piece of legislation while he is around, be it 7-8 months at the least or 2.5 years at the most.
I personally dont want to see him impeached, I think that would stir up the wackos who wouldn't do much, but it still just wouldn't be good. Better to just sit tight 2.5 more years, nothing much is going to change as he isnt going to accomplish anything except witch hunt this witch hunt that, and a lot of rounds of golf and tv watching. Pretty harmless, then we should be able to elect a competent adult in a few years, be it a dem or repub.
Sounds like something a poor person would say.

I've spent some time in the Bay Area recently and I have been floored by how much of a shithole that place is. It rivals New Orleans in terms of filth and degeneracy. Homeless drug addicts everywhere even in the nice parts of SF proper.

As someone who lives in the NOLA burbs, and works downtown everyday, and also visits San Francisco a ton for family, in no way shape or form do the cities itself or surrounding areas remind me of each other

Taking the red eye back with my 5 year old from San Diego as I post. Had an awesome 4 days there with him. I’d love to live out here crazy people be damned. There is no state in the lower 48 that has so much varied natural beauty.
Eta: there are definitely a frickload of bums in certain places but I’m kinda used to it living in Florida. There are going to be more bums where they won’t freeze to death I suppose.

The contrast is worse than New Orleans, IMO. It really rivals places like Rio or Sao Paulo.
If I had the money that some of the folks in SF do, I'd be deporting the frick out of the homeless. It's one thing to have some actual folks in need who find themselves stranded or unable to help themselves, but most of the ones (in my experience) there are just utter pieces of shite. I'd be apoplectic if I paid 3k for a room in a nice neighborhood and had some dude selling his arse and nodding off with needles strewn around down the block.

There are a lot of similarities in how they are both American cultural meccas. Tennessee Williams quote, etc. But I am mainly referring to the breath and depth of the underclass there.
It's fricking ghastly how bad it is. It's a fairly jarring sight seeing some schizophrenic bum shooting up on the street corner a block away from Twitter headquarters like I saw a week or two ago. Literally every other block there are bums huddled up doing shite like that.
Also all the normies there suck arse.

This is true for parts of SF and Oakland, but not for the vast majority of Silicon Valley, nor Redwood City, Berkeley, El Ceritto, Albany or most of the Bay area.

Do you play a character on this website or are you like this in real life? Just curious because you come across as the most negative person I have ever seen.

Because Californians frick up their state and then escape to neighboring states...then proceed to support the exact shite that made their state inhospitable to them. They are like a disease.
