Gotcha, I would argue that continually raising taxes on business is not the best way to protect an asset. It may not have reached the point yet, but there will be some point it that industry moves to a more favorable environment.

I also think it can be argued that sanctuary city policy does have an impact on visitors. Also, the homelessness situation in San Fran that they are now trying to clean up had an impact on visitors. Both of these are a product of government.

Yep I know a few people who have trailer homes in Cal for half the year and they aren't trashy. Mainly in the Palm Springs area

Yeah. No.
You don't get offered a position at the top restaurant in the world and say no.
Celadon, maybe. No one says no to Thomas Keller.

You work there a year as you can then work anywhere.

She contradicted herself above. Let's not pretend left leaning people and families wouldnt sacrifice and ostracize one of their own if they voted for Trump.

We were sitting in a bar in San Francisco and the bartender brought up politics. I kept my mouth shut because I hate talking about politics. When the issue was forced I said I voted for Trump because I wasn't voting for a criminal that should be in jail. The look on the bartenders face and LL was that of me kicking puppies down the road.

yeah i feel bad for the north part. I've been up there before and a lot of it is rural with good folks living there. Cali is the perfect example of why we need the electoral college

California hate comes mostly from people who don't travel or have never spent time on the West Coast. These are people who live in Louisiana and actually think California is in some way worse

My sister lives in San Fran so I've spent some time over there. I can't help but laugh at people who live in Baton Rouge and crap on SF and call it a dump, talking about how they would never live in a place like that. Never mind that they couldn't afford to live there, but SF is in a completely different world in terms of quality compared to BR. They look at SF's worst neighborhoods and compare it to BR's best.

These are the people you're dealing with. They're delusional.

the Palm Springs area

I'm gonna stay away from living in the desert....just my choice, though Palm Springs is nice.

I would not live in Bakersfield Barstow or LA proper, but the rest of the state, overall is really nice.

You can bash a place all you want for the politics, but I know a lot of people out there that are Republicans and conservative...although a California conservative is different than a Louisiana or Southern conservative they exist just fine. Lots of opportunity there if you beat the streets and a helluva lot more money there.

why is that? I dont want a government taxing the hell out of me for nothing. Look It happens all over the place but the Tax rates in CA are well and above higher than everywhere else. And the cost of living is outrageous.

The left is far worse about this imo. Just look at all of the upheaval after the election.

When Obama won most on the right just said "well that sucks" and moved on with their lives.

It's hilarious. And sad. It's almost as if they don't realize that almost all of northern Cali is red.

"I'm far happier living in a dump and being a conservative than living in a nice place and being a conservative!"

Makes sense

Ok. So. As others have said in this thread you have the mega wealthy then you have slums.

do we? i know this....North Cali baws would fit is great with South LA Baws. But they are being controlled and nut straggled by the 3 metropolises of San Diego, LA, and SanFran area. And there is no way they can get the upper hand.
