I watch that dude's stuff all the time. I am absolutely intrigued in to how card tricks are designed.
But I can barely shuffle a deck myself, so maybe I am just easily amused

When my kid was younger he got hooked on Penn and Teller's Fool Us. So, to entertain him and myself, I learned a few tricks on youtube. They are great mindblowing tricks but it's something you must practice over and over and over again, and if you get it down perfect, you still have to keep practicing or you lose it quickly. It is not like riding a bike.
If you learn just a few slights of hand and get them down, it opens up hundreds of different tricks you can do.

I love card tricks and I do not ever want to learn how they are done.

I get slight of hand with tons of practice, but how do they do stuff like, “take your shoe off” and there is your card with your name on it? Gotta be a plant in the audience.

Accomplices and multiple decks are common for tricks. The ones I still don't understand is where the person signs the card with a sharpie making it unique, and then it ends up in a hidden place.

Watch some of the stuff the late Ricky Jay has on YT.
You'll likely recognize him from some great movies. His magic, card tricks, humor and manner are really good.
Sad he's gone.

Close-up magic in general as fascinating AF to me… cards, coins, etc.
We went to a pretty awesome restaurant in Nashville recently called House of cards, you eat a delicious dinner and they have all these little one off close-up magic shows with amazing magicians, and then they have a theater at the end with a guy that does what they call parlor magic, not so much stage illusions, but it is not cards and coins close-up in your face either.
Not really into all the stage illusions because they clearly use props and you are so far from everything, it takes away from the “magic”…. Almost feels like any human being could do what they’re doing on stage, it is the prop or the equipment that is doing all of the magic, not the person

In regards to mentalists. Was just went to Vegas between Christmas and New Years. Went and saw Frederic Da Silva(sp?). His show was awesome, I highly recommend going and seeing him. After the show he does a meet and greet with anyone that wants to stay and meet. My family and I waited in line, and when we got to meet him, he asks my 12 yo daughter to think of a number between 1-100. As she is thinking of it, he has a sharpie and a mini poster of himself that he is going to sign. He asks if she has the number and she says yes. He writes something down on the poster, and then asks my daughter what the number was. She says "71." He turns the poster around and 71 was written on the poster. He then asks my son to think of a number, and my son says 65. The dude pulls a little post it note out of his pocket, unfolds it, and 65 is written on it. This was all within about 20-30 seconds. It blows my mind how he did it.

Frederic Da Silva did a few things like this too. He randomizes audience members by throwing frisbees out into the audience and then the audience members throw them around. Very short version of one of his tricks. Random guy writes his name or something on a piece of paper. This paper is given to another random audience member. about 1000 packages of Ramen noodles are brought on stage. Audience member digs down and randomly pulls one package of ramen. Da Silva gives him multiple chances to change the one he picks. Guy eventually opens the ramen package, then opens the seasoning pack inside the ramen, and inside the seasoning pack is the piece of paper that he wrote his name on.

I knew he had a deck with all 2 of clubs. I’d say, he did all that with a normal deck, then spliced the video in of him with the full 2 of clubs deck flipping them over.
