Why are you taking your obvious frustration with moonlighting out on your day job?

What kind of company does training at 4 PM on a Friday?

I disagree. I have chose work over life many times with my company and I assure you, whenever I needed to choose life over work, they never batted an eye.
It goes both ways.

At the end of the day, is it that big of a deal? Find somebody to be at the house, pay the stupid missed appointment fee and move on with life.

Find a new job. Employers who try to guilt you into staying late and attempt to emotionally manipulate you are not worth your time. Same for people who try to guilt you when you try to use your PTO.

I did the same for a company once. Never again. Sure I got some flexibility in return but then it would get thrown in my face at a later date as a way to manipulate me.

I'd be charged a cancelation fee should I have rescheduled due to poor leadership.

Now he wants me to come in an hour early at 7:30 to file notes that we have until noon to file because he is having a panic attack about the higher ups being here. I'm good.

I scheduled for an electrician to come to my house today 2 weeks ago. Estimated arrival time was from 4-6. Today my boss tells me that I need to stay late for a mandatory training at 6:00. On Monday we were made aware that the training would take place during 2 times (2:00 pm on Wednesday and 4:00 pm Friday).
However, the main office had a surprise visit today. He gave me 6 hours notice and expected me to accommodate him when I had other commitments. I'd be charged a cancelation fee should I have rescheduled due to poor leadership. He then tried to guilt me into doing it and essentially working a 12 hour day because the training is 2 hours. "I don't ask a lot from you". He does actually. How would the OT have handled this?
I read this 5 times and still don’t understand what the frick you’re trying to say

In today’s world where there are hundreds of different types of jobs that didn’t exist 20 years ago, it’s difficult to defend staying hostage to one employer/supervisor throughout bullshite like that. The corporate world is so crappy and it ONLY looks out for the bottom line and NOT the employee.
I strongly recommend looking at other employers and telling your boss to kick rocks. It’s an employee market now and supervisors better either get with the times and treat their employees like royalty or always be hiring. It’s their choice.

Start singing "Take this job and shove it" and tell your boss to kick rocks.

You handled it well and so did he. I’d call this one good-good and move on.
