Adults really don't like the symphony? That blows my mind. I can understand not liking a particular genre of music like country or rap, but the symphony?

Actually the symphony was nice, but the theater was warm and seats were cramped. Big crowd. Of course I am so un-cultured that I have no clue was was going on. But the music was very nice.

9 is the greatest, no doubt, but as an expression of the symphonic form, 5 is the most perfect.

I'm going to see the Louisiana Philharmonic perform the 5th in New Orleans on May 12. Should be a good show. I saw them perform the 9th a couple of years ago which is my favorite of his and maybe my favorite music of all time. The 7th is my second favorite. The 5th is still a great one though.
Eta: I think last year I saw them perform the 6th as part of another show. I was pretty unfamiliar with it. It was good but unspectacular compared to beethoven's other symphonies. I can't remember which show it was part of. Maybe Quint playing Stravinsky's violin concerto which itself was pretty amazing.
Have fun. It should be good.

It actually has exceptional acoustics... and it's in the design process of a multi-million dollar upgrade to the facility as a whole. It really needs the upgrade.
Back on topic, the best symphony is probably Bittersweet Symphony.
