Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and not believe WHO.

No, stores in the area require them for entry. Some have relaxed, others haven't yet. It's everywhere though, even when I got my haircut.

If you google the videos posted by the WHO they have been up since February and March back when the guidance was wear mask only if symptomatic. This isn’t some new information that was just posted. This is. I different than people posting the Fauci interview from February talking about maks.

I do. I only really shop at HEB Central market or Costco, but everyone is requiring it. Walmart, target, Randall's, whole foods, and even retail like Academy, Lowe's, HD, etc.

This isn’t some new information that was just posted.
Basically the WHO is reaffirming they still dont believe masks need to be worn. Basically, they are disagreeing with the 180 made by Fauci and the CDC

Just for funsies... here's a study done back in 1920 to examine why cloth masks weren't effective in helping prevent the Spanish Flu from spreading.
Yes they did reduce the number of infected droplets, but not enough to be effective in controlling infection spread.
American Journal of Public Health
CONCLUSIONS.
1. Gauze masks exercise a certain amount of restraining influence on the number of bacteria-laden droplets possible of inhalation.
2. This influence is modified by the number of layers and fineness of mesh of the gauze.
3. When a sufficient degree of density in the mask is used to exercise a useful filtering influence, breathing is difficult and leakage takes place around the edgeof the mask.
4. This leakage around the edges of the mask and the forcible aspiration of droplet laden air through the mask is sufficient to make the possible reduction in dosage
of infection not more than 50 per cent effective.
5. It remains for future controlled experiments in contagious disease hospitals to determine whether the wearing of masks of such texture as to be reasonably
comfortable are effective in diminishing the incidence of infection.
6. Masks have not been demonstrated to have a degree of efficiency that would warrant their compulsory application for the checking of epidemics.

CDC isn't over third world countries that have multiple areas that don't even have basics like running water like WHO. Much less an adequate supply of PPE and health care clinics and facilities as well as health care workers for that matter.
Exactly. I imagine these guidelines are in direct response to problems they see playing out in places with current explosions like Indonesia, South America. . . Where masks are limited and being horded by people not involved with aiding sick.
That wearing masks -- whether people like it or want to or not -- lowers the odds of transmission is common sense.

Only place I have been that required it here was my hair salon.
I still wear one when I go to any stores now though.
I do that for a few reasons though.
1) I do believe it helps prevent some spread
2) I have a 71 year old father with numerous medical issues. I avoid seeing him as much as I can. However...he has a lot of medical appointments and I have to physically accompany him to them. So I do my part to help protect him when I do have to have contact with him and social distance, wear a mask in public places (except outdoor exercise), minimize where I go in public, and frequent hand washing. When I do see my dad I stay away as much as I can from him, wear a mask, make him wear one as well...and have both of us wear one in my jeep.

It isnt even known or consensus if surgical masks stop the rate of infection during actual surgeries
You can say you believe it works, but its false its "common sense" it definitely helps reduce the spread
