I'll take it. Someone killed him.

Russia said it killed one of Islamic State’s most senior figures, Abu Mohammed al-Adnani, after the Pentagon said that U.S.-led coalition forces carried out a “precision strike” against him. A Russian SU-34 bomber “destroyed” at least 40 Islamic State members in Aleppo province on Tuesday, including al-Adnani, the Defense Ministry said in an e-mailed statement Wednesday. The statement was issued after Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said on Tuesday that al-Adnani was targeted that day near al Bab in Syria, northeast of Aleppo. “We are still assessing the results of the strike, but al-Adnani’s removal from the battlefield would mark another significant blow to ISIL,” Cook said in a statement, using an acronym for the group. “Al-Adnani has served as principal architect of ISIL’s external operations and as ISIL’s chief spokesman.” Asked about Russia’s assertion, Cook told reporters Wednesday, “We have no information to support Russia’s claim that they also carried out a strike against Adnani. And I would just note that from the start, Russia, as you know, has spent most of its time, its military campaign, supporting and propping up the Assad regime. ”

The Defense Ministry in Moscow said information from several intelligence sources showed that al-Adnani was among the militants killed by the Russian strike near the village of Ma’arat Umm Hawsh, north of Aleppo.

Don't care as long as he's dead.
Of course, if the Russians killed him, they probably killed about 950 other innocents as well.

Just from homerism and the US having the baddest military and Intel, I'm going to say it was the US. But as long as someone got 'em, good job!

Who killed Isis leader
quote:So Russia is supporting the government, aka, order within the country. The US created ISIS, then supported them with weapons and money, then tried to overthrow the Assad, then called them the JV squad, then did nothing, and now claims we are all of a sudden general bad arse

I believe close to nothing that comes from this administration. The burden of proof is on them IMHO

The problem is that somehow, we as a "freedom" loving country think that, overwhelmingly, it is a state for all people.
It ain't.
Some people have an innate need to be ruled.
We have breeds of every animal. Why are we so arrogant to think that humans are any different?
Some of us are more independent. Some of us are pack animals striving for a leader.
Some of us are simply put, a herd. In need of shepherds.
If you zoom out from your own narrow worldview you'll see the real truth.
We aren't created equal. It's a damn fairytale.
We are created and forged in the fires of our own existence. Our own little embers.
These happen all over the world, in the wombs of differerent creeds and cultures and mindsets.
How arrogant is it to assume that we are all the same?
Hell, in our own state we have pockets of extreme difference and we think this Beatles shite that the world should live as one?
No.
Globalism is a lie. Globalism treats us all as pawns for a few uber-rich elites. And it will be the death of us. Of mine and yours.
Our progeny will burn and bleed while globalists sit in their ivory towers and watch.
Or...
Well, the or is still up to us.
For now.
It ain't.

The Syrian regime represents nothing but chaos--they've killed far more civilians in Syria than ISIS. It's not even close. If anything, Obama shoulders the blame of not taking them out, hence ending the war, and allowing most Syrians--who hate ISIS--to turn on the terror group.
The whole Russian strategy is to not target ISIS but bomb anti-regime rebels instead. The point of this strategy is to blur the difference between ISIS and US-supported rebels, so that eventually there will only be ISIS left and Russia can say that they told us so.
Unfortunately for them this strategy will not work, because of sheer numbers--the great majority Syrians hate the regime for destroying their country.
So yes, I believe the USA. In fact, a good rule of thumb is to believe nothing that comes out of Russian media.

I don't think you understand how ISIS works. Think of them like a small fire on a windy day in the California mountains.
It is much easier to control a government than it is to control a radical insurgency. You just have to be willing to recognize the problems and not be a pussy about solving them

I think the real issue here is that you don't understand the nature of the Syrian regime, or the Syrian conflict, which is an entirely separate issue from ISIS-inspired / ISIS propaganda terror attacks in the West. I agree that these can't be "controlled" (whether or not the regime survives), but ISIS in Syria can be destroyed like any other insurgency.
Here's a good article to get you up to speed on the so-called "stability" of the regime: LINK

I'm not saying it is necessarily stable within the country. I'm saying I'd rather deal with a country than an ideology. Much easier
