I most definitely blame the individual. Alcohol and cigarettes are readily available and I do not hold the corner 7 11 as responsible for one's addictions.

Is it the doctor's fault
yes, doctors are shitty people. They are the money/status motivated "intellectuals"...money first everything else second. They have no shame, and the proof is in the obvious "long legged" pharma sales reps....they are dressing for Drs with shite morals. Drs are the GHETTO BLINGSTERS of professional class.

Lol @ everyone saying the doctors are at fault.
There are a lot of doctors who do overprescibe narcotics. However, as mentioned earlier people have become conditioned to think that pain is not acceptable. When patients have pain they are not satisfied. When patients are not satisfied they sue.
If I treat someone I know is going to be a thorn in my side about pain then I certainly will be more inclined to give them something stronger than an NSAID. Patients beg for pain meds for the most ridiculous stuff. However, any doctor that manages chronic pain with narcotics (other than a pain management doctor) deserves all the headache associated with it.
Also, pharmaceutical companies don't push doctors to prescribe narcotics. They push doctors to prescribe outrageously expensive NSAIDS with stomach medicine.

I thought some new regs or enforcement came down in the last year or two that put the clamps on docs handing out pills like candy, which is why people have moved to heroin?
Kujo, the sexy pharma thing is not what it was 15 years ago.

This is a terrible attitude to have. A quality pain management doctor has many treatment modalities in addition to just giving you opioids. There's no dignity in dealing with chronic pain without exhausting all the resources to treat it.

oh a thorn that waits 1 hour to be blessed by your presence for 2 mins?
"okay, here's your script, pay the deductible for the $250 I'm going to charge insurance for the 2 mins I spoke with you. Now I have to go. There's a blonde waiting for me with sandwiches and Saints tickets"

There is a great deal more scrutiny with the opioid prescriptions today. I've been called everything under the sun for refusing to write narcotics for patients. People in general are pathetic.

Oh man...
The reality that some of you people build around yourselves is both amazing and scary.

When's the last time anyone saw an actual handicapped person use one? Amazing how many handicapped people like rims on their vehicles.....just like doctors.

just watched it
It's amazing how innocent and normal a lot of the med seeking patients are
I used to get really pissed, but now I just find it hilarious when a patient tells me the 5's or 7.5's "don't work" for them. Yeah...let me get right on writing you for 90 10/325's

That's reaching there.
Fwiw...how do you know the person driving isn't handicapped...but has a handicapped family member riding with them?
My father has a handicapped tag(for legit medical reasons). If I'm visiting and he's riding with me...he'll put the tag in my car so he doesn't have to walk far when we park.

you laugh, one of your peers got them hooked, then he got busted and had to cut them off, now they are looking for another supplier.
Isn't that what happened locally, some DR got a bunch of elderly people hooked onto one of the Oxys and lost his license.

How do I know Handicap placards are abused? Just look at the people getting out of the vehicle. "what if she has a heart condition"..as she parks to go to the gym.

I love when my teenage patients in the hospital will ask for pain medication and when I try to determine their pain level they will say "oh it's totally a 10 right now"....while they are busy playing on their phones and rolling their eyes at their parents.
And then the parents get all pissy when I may suggest trying the non-narcotic meds first. "Didn't you hear her...she said it's a 10!!!"
