She’s been planning this for a while.

Where did you come back from?

How long were you gone?

Did you have any idea that the marriage was in trouble?

Kids?

We need some details man.

A couple of years ago, it was Phil Kobetz, Tony Morrow, or Diane Sorola.

Phil Kobetz should be your first call.

then I found a note on my bed

What did the note say? Please let us know verbatim (or post a copy of the note).

Good luck.

ETA: It’s important for us to know whether the note says, “Dear Superduperm: I’m leaving because I fell in love with Jody. I’m sorry I hurt you.” Or, “Dear frickhead: I found out you’ve been porking my cousin's wife. She has the AIDS. See you in court, dick!”

Wow, your wife leaves only a few days after you register here. What are the odds?

Since her reaction was to to move out and yours was to come here for advice, I’d guess that she’s already met with every decent divorce attorney in the Lafayette area and dropped trou or retainer with each of them.

Shreveport Yellow Pages May be your best next step.

That will change quickly. You are just in the anger phase of grief right now. Give it time. The good ones are going to cost $500 just for an initial consultation and likely a $10,000 initial fee. That will make it through preliminary motion practice if you are serious about your strategy. Then the bills start coming in as preparations for trial starts and people’s financial pain tolerance begins to weaken and your hatred for her is not quite as worth it as you thought. Many end up taking a deal you could have gotten a lot cheaper because you cannot stomach the legal fees and investigator fees and accountant/forensic economist fees if there real money involved. This is when many will transition to the bargaining phase and eventually the acceptance phase.

Good luck. It’s not going to be easy, but can be fun if your goal is as you stated above. I hope you ride it out as nobody deserves what you’ve described. If she’s do that to you she was doing you a favor because she would have made your life miserable the longer she stayed.

1. You need to be seeking the best divorce lawyer in B.R. or N.O.

2. Call all your credit card/debit card companies and report them stolen.

3. Call the cops and report her vehicle stolen.

As a divorce lawyer I’d recommend you look for someone who is in the American academy of matrimonial lawyers

Lafayette parish has an alliance with neighboring parishes. These two are in Crowley but are well respected in Lafayette.
Jack Miller
Scott Privat

At the end of the day you’re screwed but jack is pretty good
