I'm sober every night. Don't need to waste my money on that stuff just so I can get a buzz.

El Segundo–as in El Segundo/L.A? L.A's my hometown; I lived in Manhattan for a year or so, just south of you–that is, if you're El Segundo/L.A.

Yes I'm in El Segundo...the Mayberry by the Sea. I run to the Manhattan Beach Pier via the bike trail 5 times a week. About 10k.

Never heard that one before. I've had an encounter or two with El Segundo's finest and I can say--well, Andy and Barney they ain't. Some vicious brutes they got in that police department there.
You know what Hermosa's slogan used to be--like back in the 60's when they had pay-by-the-week boarding houses near the pier? "Where the Debris Meets the Sea." Back in the day the beach cities, from Manhattan to Redondo, were sleazy, low-rent areas that attracted an eclectic crowd of freaks and misfits. Now, of course, that stretch of cities has been largely gentrified, rehabbed, cleaned up and made tourist-friendly. It's truly sad what they've done.

Yeah, I had my last drink on December 31, 1991. I decided to then to focus all my energy on narcotics.

I took guitar lessons when I was a kid, but I couldn't get into it back then so I never persued it. I think my parents started me too young. I would love to learn to play now. I know it isn't hard. It's been about 30 years since I took lessons and I still remember some of it.

It's a little early for me to be drunk yet. I'll end up having a few drinks later.

Do it. I started playing at age 53 and I've gotten enormous satisfaction from it, especially song writing. There's hardly anything more enjoyable and satisfying than writing and playing your own stuff. Life is always good with a guitar in hand and your own music to play.

Whatever brings happiness and satisfaction. We differ only in our methods for reaching this pleasant state of mind.
