Impossible in fact. That’s why Luther got excommunicated. He dared to question what was quite obvious—Salvation based on merit is unattainable unless our merit is actually that of Christ’s alone.

PREACH.

But it's not surprising from a "church" that gives an elected man (the Pope) as much authority as the actual Son of God.

Explain to us why would somebody convert to Catholicism, please?

Most of Protestantism is that bad.

It’s largely gone the way of moralistic therapeutic deism, and smarter folks are left wanting more.
They see the “unity” of Rome and falsely equate “tradition” with substance then skip over good Lutheran, Anglican, Continental Reformed, and Presbyterian churches in favor of the RCC.

Catholicism says “Do.”

Historic Protestantism says “Done.”

The church is God's family. That's like saying you don't need to be at your home to be a father.

Nothing of substance changed during the Council of Trent if that’s what you’re referring to.

It was a doubling down. The “anathemas” of Trent are some of the most anti-gospel statements one could ever find.

Oh friend. I’m sorry that’s your perspective. Learn you some good ecclesiology starting with the book of Ephesians. How can you love God without the Body of Christ aiding you? Don’t you need the constant reminder of what the Gospel is and who you are in Christ? I know that i need it at least every seven days. We are that frail. We are that sinful. A good church cannot be underestimated.

I was reared as a Southern Methodist and am a Catholic convert. Then I spent several years as a lapsed Catholic, but thankfully returned to the fold. Tonight I attended my first meeting as a member of the Parish Pastoral Council.

Undoubtedly. But that would take an advanced and nuanced discussion.

I “do” out of thanksgiving for what he’s done for me.

If God were to ask me why I should “get in” I’m pointing to Christ. My sin is covered by his atonement. The end.

That makes me want to “do good”. It’s overwhelming at times. It’s fantastic.

I don’t “do good” for my own good. That would be futile. On this, the Bible is clear. Is. 64 says "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away."
