I think I grew up at LSU, that's the part of BR I will always love

That sounds like a lonely existence. I mean, I could understand wanting to stay single and all, but all you do is stay home all day. That doesn't ever get to you? You don't ever want to travel any? Explore the world?

I'm from a city much bigger/nicer than BR and I love it here

Grew up in East Feliciana parish. Left at 17 and only go back to visit family. Love it where I live now.

How so?
Is one guy leaving going to fix the obesity problems, crime rate, AIDS epidemic, etc?

Grew up in BR and yes returning this year due to job offer
Posted on 2/13/14 at 7:37 am to Jazzbass13
I grew up in baton rouge and love it. Currently living part time in Beaumont and part time in BR, but I want to be full time BR in a year or so.
Totally understand someone wanting to leave BR, but I am very happy here and love it.

You know, if more people left (for someplace cool and that has it together that is) and moved back, Baton Rouge would be a much better place for it.

Grew up here. Travel a lot. Still live here.
It's just like everywhere else. The end.

I was conceived on a fishing trip to the tickfaw river, born in women's hospital, and raised in the garden district. Gone now but 24 of 28 years in BR and I'll be back one day with a lot of money to buy my dream house on the lakes

That's such horseshite.
One thing I can tell you is moving away and then coming back after you have removed yourself from it for a while, you see it clearly. I'll never forget landing at the airport to come back and visit family and looking at the filthy conditions of NBR along 110, then the dead zone that downtown was, and the drivers, OMG the drivers... whew... Then the graffiti, and grey/brown grime on the interstates, the missing guard rails, fences along the interstate being taken over by weeds and tallow trees, litter everywhere, etc.
Funny how I really never paid much attention to these third world conditions when I was growing up living there, and soon afterwards it became normal again. But it's not normal.
This is not how every city is.
