Been to San Pedro
Loved it
Not a party place
Beaches aren't really "beachy"
Just beautiful and relaxing and cheap once you get there.

I love it there. Great place for a vacation. I knew very little about Belize before I went. There are a lot of black people.

Belize is a great place to vacation, it is the only Central American country with English as their official language.

If you stay on the island rent a golf cart, you'll live like a king. One time we went it was lobster season ( in the spring I think) and you could eat lobster breakfast burritos in the morning, lobster ceviche for lunch and steamed lobster for dinner in the restaurants and spend less than $20

It's gorgeous, but is pretty hot. Not bad when you're in the water, but we got burned badly when snorkeling.
Definitely go snorkeling or diving !! These reefs are amazing and it's cheap to get some rental shop to run you on a reef tour.

Make sure you have a room with a fridge. After school the kids run up and down the beach with giant Tupperware containers of homemade meat pies, ceviche, flan custard ..... Great stuff and usually $1 apiece

Going to San Pedro in December. Bought my plane tickets yesterday. To say I'm pumped is an understatement.

We stayed on Ambergris Caye. Summer is the rainy season and it rains a lot there during that season. Be forewarned.

Xunatunich is the Mayan Ruins we visited and it was incredible. It's all the way across the country from Belize City but is still only about a 2 hour drive. The mainland is very poor.

The water level was too high for cave tubing so we ended up going to the Belize Zoo and had a great afternoon there.

San Pedro was nice and had some good restaurants but I have to say that after the sun went down it didn't feel as safe as I'd like.

Overall it was a good trip but not one I'll do again.

My family are part owners in this place, I can vouch. A little off the beaten path and second to none. It's low season so we've got good good rates going on right now.

It's on Ambergris Cay as well. Like the others mentioned, it's the best island to stay on.

We took a pontoon boat out to the Hol Chan marine reserve which is basically a big coral reef where they stop and you can snorkel. It was great, got to swim around with some rays and a bunch of other fish . They even fed some type of small sharks with a bucket of chum off the back of the boat and those of us brave (or drunk ) enough got in the water and could swim up behind them and actually touch them while they were eating
