Used to be me. Would only drink for Weddings or football games but I'd go to blackout or near blackout.
Now I'll only drink maybe once a month if we go eat at a brewery or a date night, I'll get a glass of wine

Everyone is different. It’s not like the world is split between hardcore alcoholics and sober people. I’ve blacked out and done some really dumb things. I’m also now to the point that I usually only drink on the weekends. Do I over indulge sometimes and have miserable hangovers the next day? Yes. Do i have fun weekend social events drinking? You bet ya.
It’s all about finding your own balance. Will you mess up occasionally and drink too much? Surely. As long as you aren’t endangering you or anyone else by driving, then who cares?

You gotta do what you want. We weigh our options and make decisions daily.. those decisions change overtime or they don’t ..

I was a binge drinker on the weekends for a long assed time. Random 6 packs during the week, especially if I had company. Never really any hard liquor.
The hangover anxiety began to be too much.
I'm 4 months without any alcohol. Now, the anxiety ramps up on the weekends. It's like my body is having to adjust for everything I was covering up with alcohol. I believe it's called P.a.w.s. It sucks, but I felt like it was past due for me to grow up. You have to pay the piper eventually.
2019-2024 was the fastest span of time in my life. Almost unnatural. There is no reason not to stop if you decide you want to. I had 2 family members leave too early due to alcohol. It scared me shitless. The pieces left behind are tough to deal with, and I'd be a fool to turn out that same way.
