It reminds of every Italian in the NOLA metro area claiming they are related to Carlos Marcello. It's as if they think it's some badge of honor to be related to criminal.

it is the South. our ancestors were poor, and they mated with poor Injuns. you have to be a real idiot to deny this.
What does being poor have to do with anything? Undoubtedly there was a degree of interbreeding, but it's nowhere near what you will see claimed. And it's likely far less in the South than it would be in the Midwest. And you may take notice that most people who make these claims really have no proof whatsoever, just claims that someone in their family says they have *insert Native American tribe* in their family tree.
My mother made the same claim. I asked her where in our family lineage the Native American is. Of course she had no answer.

Both sides of my dad's family, maternal and paternal, can trace their lineage very clearly to France and Switzerland. One back to about 1790 and the other immigrating in 1826.
My mother's side to Germany and Scot/English though with much less documentation.
I don't know what part of the country you are from, but LA sure as shite ain't majority Scot/Irish or English.

This site alone has made me laugh my arse off at how many people claim to have Indian blood down the line. I've seen multiple heritage threads where gobs of people swear they are part Indian.
My grandma is from Zwolle, come at me bro

I know 5 or 6 that that were told their great grand mother was "full-blooded" whatever indian , the DNA test showed zip, zero, nada.

My mom claimed she was like 1/8 NA. Did the ancestry.com test and came back as nada. Lol. It turns out there was about 4% Japanese in there with no explanation. Someone cheated and didn't tell their husband in that lineage.

this whole website isnt about Louisiana guy.
cool. you have some other ancestors. congratulations. I do too. this doesnt change the fact that the majority of Southerners were English or Scots-Irish.

No shite. Your post simply said "Southerners are descended from." I pointed out a glaring hole in that being as, you know, this is a Louisiana oriented website.

This is called a strawman. But tell us some more about how our impoverished English ancestors all mixed with Indians.

In the mix of 48 48 pairing, you could lose cherokee markers in the random shuffle.
I know that my moms side has Mongolian dna. Ghengis khan says hi. Mom and my niece both have those eyes.
What i would like to see if i have the denosovan and neanderthal dna markers. I dont care about mongo-dna.

Do any of them turn out to even have 3% Amerindian ancestry when tested? Do almost all of them turn out to be exactly 0.00% Amerindian? Even if they really are 1/32 or 1/64 Amerindian, why do they care about such small amounts of blood? Do any of them actually turn out to have small amounts of African ancestry? (I.e. They had a 1/4 or 1/8 black ancestor who faked Amerindian blood in order to "pass") Are actual Cherokees insulted by all the people who claim to be Cherokee?
I took the DNA test and was almost a 1/3rd (28%) Native American.

only a retard would think I was trying to claim every single Southerner mixed with Indians.

dna is nothing more than what you inherited from your ancestors. you do not have the same percentages as your sibilings.

The English Royalists settled primarily the Tidewater region. They are what you think of as the "genteel" Southern aristocracy. They were far, far outnumbered by Scot Irish settlers.
Again, I doubt you even went to college.

1790 Census[edit]
The 1790 United States Census was the first census conducted in the United States. It was conducted on August 2, 1790. The ancestry of the 3,929,214 population in 1790 has been estimated by various sources by sampling last names in the very first United States official census and assigning them a country of origin.[29] The estimate results indicate that people of English ancestry made up about 47.5% of the total population or 60.9% of the European American population. Some 80.7% of the total United States population was of European heritage.[30] Around 757,208 were of African descent with 697,624 being slaves. Of the remaining population, more than 75% was of British origin.[31]
The states with the highest percentage of English ancestry were Connecticut 96.2%, Rhode Island 96%, Vermont 95.4%, Massachusetts 95%, New Hampshire 94.1%, Maine 93.1%, Delaware 86.3%, Virginia including West Virginia 85%, Maryland including District of Columbia 84%, North Carolina 83.1%, Kentucky and Tennessee 83.1%, Georgia 83.1%, South Carolina 82.4%, New York 78.2%, Pennsylvania 59%, New Jersey 58%.(% of total European ancestry).
