I have no desire to restrict voting on arbitrary criteria like gender, race, etc. Those are merit-neutral attributes.
We should require a baseline knowledge of government structure, economics, geopolitics before granting the privilege of voting.

Age isn't merit. I know of 16 year olds that have a much greater understanding of economics and geopolitical issues than 95% of adults.
The fact that you've existed for 30 years doesn't mean you have the first clue about politics - most don't.

The founders placed voting in the hands of those with skin in the game. This notion that EVERYONE needs to vote has got us in the mess we are in today. Half of this country couldn't tell you the first thing about our government.

Not really. The Constitution as written in 1787 is basically silent on voting. There is no federal right to vote.
