blackface is the caricaturization of blacks. if you're just dressing up as MLK or Muhamed ali and darken your skin, that's not blackface.

Nah that's just appropriation. Another no no

It's usually white women that come up with this crap though, not black folks

Are you sure about that? I don’t know much about this but didn’t Meghan Kelly just get fired because she was talking about dressing up a Aretha Franklin for Halloween?

I don’t think she was referring to dressing up like a minstrel show

quote:

"But what is racist?" Kelly asked on her show. "Because you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid that was OK, as long as you were dressing up as, like, a character."

Lol. No man, he’s saying white people, not blacks are the ones making the biggest deal out of this whole thing.

I gotcha. I'm sure not, I think it's hilarious but I'm not one to get offended easily. Some people do.

Yes, I’m positive. The media have conflated blackface and dressing up as a black person so they have some controversial shite to get people their daily rage, get clicks, likes, etc.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with what Megan said, people are just too lazy, dumb, or afraid to be authentic and think things through.

I’m just saying I think most people who are upset about this kind of stuff define blackface as dressing as a black person. Not specifically a minstrel costume. Anybody that paints their face black for any purpose

I mean that bad shite done in the past often has broader consequences than we perceive; and it’s generally the future who has to pay the steepest price for our contemporary mistakes.

I agree with what you are saying but I don't think it's right. I think it goes too far in the extreme. There are idiots of all skin tones, I wish there wasn't but it's been that way since the beginning of time.
