It is one thing to have a sustainable population and economy without experiencing crazy population growth.

The rust belt cities had unsustainable economies that led to significant loss in population.

Are you suggesting that lack of population growth = economic decline?

Is that what we're about to debate?

Same general area as Denver? It is 678 miles from OKC to Denver. That is the same as saying Chicago and Fayetteville are in the same general area.

I'm not going to get into a chicken/egg debate about economic growth and population decline because I don't doubt we share overlapping opinions on it but I would rather my city grow than not

I'll take on babysitting duties. I'll redpill tf outa that kid. He'll come home talking about animals and why it's important for daddy not to placate mommy all the time because then he'll eventually lose respect for her.

Crazy to think about.

I actually like Charlotte a lot, but wow that place is getting HUGE.

I'd rather my city innovate and develop internally without expanding. A population boom means nothing to me. I'll move to Nashville if I want more traffic and no where to park.

City grows, experiences 20 year boom, turns to Rust Belt status when the new shiny thing happens.

We're headed for a population decline later this century. I understand why cities need to focus on short term growth but renovating and updating need to occur before adding a shite load of inventory.

Not to Austin and Nashville's scale, but:

Boise
Greenville
Birmingham

Population boom typically means stronger economy and more jobs. No growth typically indicates the economy is stagnant.
