LIVINGSTON PARISH - Agents arrested ten people from Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas for DWI on Livingston Parish waters.
According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, agents patrolled Blind River and the Amite Diversion Canal heavily over the last weekend as there was a large event going on only accessible by boat.
The ten people arrested were as follows:
Mary Louis, 29, of Prairieville
Gerald Palmer, 57, of Gonzales
Ryan St. Angelo, 29, of Gonzales
Christopher Pickering, 42, of Baton Rouge
Lance Cook, 25, of Prairieville
Rodrygo Messias, 42, of Walker
Todd Wallace, 59, of Maurepas
Brandon Hoover, 43, of Maurepas
Steven McDaniel, 38, of Prairieville
Anthony McNease, 22, of Baton Rouge
Anyone cited for a DWI on the water or on the road will lose his or her driver's license and boating privileges for the specified time ordered by the judge in the case, according to the LDWF. Also, each offense of operating a vehicle or vessel while intoxicated counts toward the total number of DWI crimes whether they happened on the water or road.

In unrelated news, Blind River Bar just reopened.

Good thing they shut down tiki tubing because I’m certain they would be giving out TUI’s at this point.

Is there anyone on a boat on those waters not drinking?
They could cite every single boater on the water.
I guess it's how many they have time to stop during a day

Drunk on the water ='s I can't drive a car? That's fricky.
And "boating privileges"? I can't ride in a boat anymore? These guys need to dial back the rhetoric in their press releases.

The Livingston cops and Wildlife agents are out there every weekend with at least 5 boats. WLF launches from Hilltop Restaurant.
That's why I might have a single beer if we stop at one of the river bars. Other than that, I'm designated driver/captain.

If you've ever been around boating accidents where people got killed you'd applaud this action.

Whats the point of boating if you cant get hammered?
Also would be nice if we policed criminal activity in high crime areas of BR as hard as we police the water

I couldn’t imagine being a 40+ year old man getting a DUI or BUI. Grow up man.

What age is appropriate for BUI?

Agreed. We have a place on the diversion, I usually pay someone to stay sober and drive. If you have chicks on boat, you will get stopped.

Everyone on the boat can be hammered except the operator. If I’m not operating that day I’ll normally be drinking a beer while I talk to the sheriffs/game wardens when they do their checks.

That whole area is so frickin trashy and crowded. Thankfully most of that shite stays out of the spillway.

If you're not captaining a boat its not a problem. Plenty drunk people RIDE in cars and don't get arrested. It's only a problem when the drunk person DRIVES the car.

I’m expecting a Blind River Bar vs. Prop Stop thread. Who is trashier? You decide.

Do you lose your boat driving privileges if you get a DWI with a car? I'm not irresponsible so I wouldn't know. Serious question.

I think a 40 year old with years of driving/boating experience blowing a .1 is 100x safer than a 22 year old blowing a .1
