It used to be masters was the highest level. Now DPT is the only option.

you should start with biology the first semester and then switch to either sociology or communications.

So is it a PhD or a masters?

Neither, it's a DPT

I'm a senior at UK and looking to go to PT school. Major means absolutely nothing and I have been routinely told that by PT schools. Tell her to do a major she enjoys. Only thing that matters is that she gets her pre-reqs done and gets a bachelors in something.
And the DPT requirement now is a joke. The only thing it does is increase the student debt.

Eh, as a whole they're better clinicians with the extra schooling and rotations.

Biology. Look to Dr. Nacho Albergamo as your influence.

She should major in whatever field interests her the most. Admissions committees like a little variety so it won't hurt her to not major in kinesiology. She just needs to make sure that she has all the required prerequisites. For example, she could major in English Lit and as long as she completed the required prerequisites, had a good GPA, and good GRE scores, she would probably get accepted.

Tell her to do biology, minor in sociology or psychology, and don't worry about volunteering, shadowing, etc until she actually gets to college.

I say the minor because the new mcat has those subject in it and medical schools are changing to focus on treating differing peoples better. I saydwait until college because adcoms don't really care about what yyou do before college.

Also, tell her to take as much Spanish as she can as well. For obvious reasons.

Was going to do PT until about two years ago then changed to a different health profession. I was in Kinesiology and that curriculum met all the prereqs. If she does Biology she'll have to take kines classes as her electives
