It’s Wurstfest. And I would live in new Braunfels just so I could go to that every day (it’s only like 10 days)
And new Braunfels is mostly an older person town but there are some hot post grads. They are easily findable at the local bars.
Day trips to Austin, San Marcos, or San Antonio will help you find more girls.

I guess it’s been a few years since I looked at housing over there. My bad. Things are not the same as they were a few years ago! You could find nice houses in the 4-700k range all day (which I know is still a lot)

Granbury and Abilene don’t belong I don’t think but pretty good list

Houston and Dallas are so different and yet so similar that one isn’t simply “better” but it just depends what the person wants

Best festival scene has to be San Antonio IMO. Fiesta and wurst fest >>>

Have you ever spent any time in Brownsville or did you just look at the demographics and assume it’s a shithole? I would much rather live there than any big city in Louisiana.

Any thoughts on Waco, anyone familiar with it?
Waco proper has some crime problems like very city. There are a number of good places to eat and some live music that comes through town (smaller names). Cameron park has mountain biking if you like that. The ares out from town a great places to raise a family.
If you are looking for big city life (high end shopping, tons of fine dining, huge concerts, pro sports, and such) then obviously you won’t be happy. Overall I think places like Mcgregor, Hewitt and such are good places for a more smaller town feel.

Waco is a shite hole. Try San Angelo, Tyler, new Braunfels, he’ll even Abilene and Amarillo are better.
Edit: of course the Baylor fan downvotes. Forgot to mention the worst part about Waco. Baylor fans.

Thank you
Kids would be all gone when we consider our retirement spot and we visited a friend there and kind of liked it. close enough to the bigger cities should we want or need to go there.
Looking at Texas, Idaho, or Florida. Was curious about Waco. Thanks again.

Good to know the worst part. Thanks.
I’m not claiming Waco is the lower east side of Manhattan or even as hip/trendy as Austin, but it does offer decent outdoor activities/topography and the areas around it have safe reasonably priced homes (though those are going up). But obviously if you want a real big city life it isn’t the place to be.

I've been to Amarillo and Abilene and would readily take Waco over both.

It's not like Tennessee where you have one booming metropolis (Nashville), two quaint mountainous cities (Knox and Chattanooga), and one shithole (Memphis).
What about Johnson City? Bristol?

Have live in Waco for 3 years now, likely will move a little south to Temple to be close to work. Overall Waco isn't terrible, has changed alot in the last 3 years I've been here. Solid breweries, decent outdoor activities with Cameron Park, relatively small town. Has its bad parts like any town. 1.5 hours from Austin and Dallas, is nice. I'd say probably a good location to raise family if that's what your looking for
