You are not an engineer, in the professional/legal sense, until you have that license.
Well, you also have to pass the bar to be a lawyer in the professional sense and complete residency and pass boards to be a physician in the professional sense. I didn't include any of those in my statement.
If you want to include the PE qualification, you have to also take those items into account.

Maybe not exclusively from a problem-solving perspective, but definitely from the sheer volume of work required.
I keep seeing this. There's a lot of problem-solving in medical school. There are treatment/diagnostic algorithms that determine the standard of care, which we are expected to know and are tested on. It seems like strict memorization and some of it is, but a lot of it is thinking critically through things, not just blind regurgitation.

Yeah and anyone who thinks law school is nothing but memorization is an idiot. That's precisely what law school is not.

Actually, all those are just licensing bodies. Doesn't mean you aren't a doctor or engineer. You just aren't licensed to practice. You get your doctorate, you are can be called doctor...

That's why I said in a "professional sense". You aren't practicing if you aren't licensed.
ETA: I was also careful to use the term physician, not doctor. Doctor is a level of education, physician is a profession.

EEEEHHH wrong.
I don't know about doctors or lawyers, but you may not, in the state of Louisiana at least, use the term "Engineer" in your title or in the name of your business if you are not a licensed professional engineer.
If you don't have a PE, then you are not an engineer, at least in Louisiana.

Only looking at LSU. I would say med school is definitely the hardest. If you count studying for the bar, then I'd say law school is second. Not counting the bar, I think engineering is second based on the attrition rate of the major.
Also, different schools have different degrees of difficulty. If you look at the top med school vs top law school vs top engineering school, I'd say it goes med school, law school, then engineering.
FWIW: I went to lsu law school and it was much more difficult before they changed the grading system in the mid 2000's

I don't think there is a clear answer to this. Obviously medical school takes much longer to complete.
Of the three, I would guess law school is probably the easiest and it depends on where you go, but it all comes down to passing the bar.
Engineers have to take the FE, but by the time you graduate everything in that exam should still be somewhat fresh in your head.
I have no idea what one has to do to prepare for the bar exam, but I am sure it involves a lot more hours of studying.

Med school and it's not close. Like not even remotely close. I know successful engineers who wanted to be doctors but they couldn't even make it past college organic chemistry so they switched to engineering.

Construction industry and CM grads laugh. They are all some kind of "engineer"

I averaged around 60-70 hours of studying a week for 3 months. You dont work or do anything but study. It was hell on earth.

Seems like they're relative outliers. Most premeds struggle with organic chemistry because it's not merely memorization, but requires a degree of abstract and complex thinking that is inherent to many engineering courses.

I cannot speak for Med School, but enginnering and law school are such apples and oranges that they're hard to compare. They test very different skill sets.
Personally, law school has been harder for me. It's such a sheer volume of information, and we only get one exam at the end, which makes it difficult to recognize your weaknesses as the semester goes along.

They can use the term for internal company titles, but not for anything being offered to the public. If they do, they're breaking the law.
For instance, a school can call a janitor a "waste disposal engineer", but the company I work for cannot offer the services of our staff members w/o a P.E. to our clients under the title "engineer".

As a lawyer I'd have to guess that Med School and Engineering are much more difficult. Being top of the class in law school is tough, but if you're just trying to get through it with a respectable GPA and land a job, it's really not that bad.
I feel like med school and certain engineering degrees would require a shitload of hours and dedication just to make it to the other side.

I seriously doubt engineering is even close to med school. I graduated in engineering and while it was hard it never seemed unbearable like you hear about med school. Don't know anything about law school though
