I've always been a New York guy (granted, I'd never been to LA; flew in for the first time this morning). Walking around the little beach neighborhoods today has started to shift my original impressions of the city. What is the OT's city of choice?

In advance, I know you'll want the basis of this competition, but I'm not giving it to you. Give me your opinions on living, visiting, nightlife, cuisine..., whatever.

I’ve only been to New York during the summer. Freaking blows.

I think Snake Plissken is the only guy to escape from both so you'll have to ask him.

New York. I wouldn't want to deal with the LA traffic. And New York has better food (not that LA has bad food options, obviously) and a better job market.

NY all day. Don’t need a car, better food, people are less superficial, lots of walking so you burn cals.

The overwhelming OT Response: "frick em both"

The Number of OT Posters who've been to both: maybe 1%

New York. Puerto Ricans are American citizens. Mexicans aren't.

Politics in both places are ridiculous

If I had to choose it would be LA without a doubt.

Name a place on earth where politics isn't in the shitter. I'll hang up and listen.

Minus all the political crap....I'd take LA. Better beaches, and year round weather.

Ohhhh and closer to San Diego, cause SD is pretty bad arse.

And I couldnt stand listening to new yorkers speak any more than I have to. Which right now is very very minimal. Ha.

NYC vs LA proper, NY wins for sure.

But NYC vs everything around LA, LA blows it away. Perfect weather every day. Mountains and beaches etc

You can find equally good food in both places. Definitely cannot get by in LA without a car though I

I can’t speak for NY, but I did live in the LA area (Pasadena) for 3 years.

I’m a fairly right of center guy and LA is definitely far left of center. But I met and became friends a lot of good people out there who are lifelong Democrats and TBH politics rarely ever came up when we hung out.

Was a lot different that what I perceived before moving out there. Most normal people regardless of political affiliation are nice and reasonable. Social media just gives a forum to the idiots who scream the loudest.
