. It seems like Dallas has all the cons of Louisiana weather but has worse/longer winters.
Louisiana had a much worse most recent winter.

"south dallas" which is too vague.
Not really. South of Dallas sucks. About 90% of it. Whoever said that was spot on.

South Dallas = 90% of the areas south of I-30

I work in Las Colinas. The area near the Toyota Music Factory is building up like crazy. All of this land will soon be a lot of apartments and restaurants

Lol I know because I work and live there too

In fact, I can see Downtown Las Colinas from my office window.

The only con about Dallas weather is a few weeks like this week where is ~48 in the morning and 70 in the evening. If you even want to call that a con.
Oh so like right now... Wore a jacket out of the house yesterday and was sweating by 2 PM. I would still rather this weather than instantly sweating walking from the front door to the car like I did in Nola.

South Dallas

Look in Sachse, Murphy, Wylie, Lovejoy
Nice area, we've been here for 14 years and love it
You can ride the train from George Bush and 75 if your job is within walking distance of the tracks.

I was living right up against it for a year when I lived there @ 7421 Frankford.

I was just coming to make sure you know to use the CAD sites for Dallas and Collin Counties. They are very helpful in finding out appraised values/estimated prop taxes of any property in the county.
Basically any county in Texas you want to search just google "[county name] + CAD".

North Oak Cliff is one of the most desirable in town areas of Dallas. You'll pay 350k for a 3/1 400 for a 3/2 and pushing a million for larger houses in Kessler Park. The area around Kiest park is an up and coming area and still affordable (275k) for young people and very safe. I have a single female friend that has lived over there for 7 or 8 years with zero problems. The bad areas of Oak Cliff are way south around Camp Wisdom and red bird mall or east of I-35 near the zoo.
Haven't those areas cooled off a bit? Not that it would be a bad thing for a potential home buyer, necessarily.

Too lazy MS Paint your area of Craft Beer and Feaux hipsters.

That’s not my area. Mine doesn’t even have anything written.
