The Mexican style coke?

There is no Mexican style Coke. There is Coke, then there is the high fructose shite they sell in the USA.

Try travelling a bit. Coke with sugar is everywhere.

Millions and millions of people, around the world, drinking the shite out of it and not getting near as fat or near as unhealthy as Americans could point to yes, it is not as unhealthy.

Of course causation =/= correlation.

i absolutely guarantee you i could tell immediately back in the 80s or whenever they changed the formula.

went from sweet, light and refreshing to feeling like i was gargling a mouthful of gooey, gummy saliva tar 'aftertaste' after swallowing.

dont talk to me about how its the same. corn syrup does not have the same viscosity as cane sugar when mixed in and i'll die on this hill. you can tell the difference just by how it feels in your mouth.

Picked up cane sugar coke last week at Winn Dixie. I only use it for my Jack and coke on game day and it's damn good. Very expensive comparison wise, at the moment.

Zero nutritional difference between HFCS and cane sugar when it comes to soft drinks. No taste difference either.

No point in tilting at that windmill again. It is like arguing with my Basset Hound who also doesn't know the difference between an atom valence and a window valence.

It's real to them dammit.

i'm not sure what side of the argument you're on here, but its very easy to tell the difference IN YOUR MOUTH between corn syrup and sugar in your soft drink.

i dont give a shite about the 'nutritional difference' bc that's playing with words to make it seem like there's no difference.

they're both terrible for you so let's move the conversation to which integrates better in soda pop.

if i choose to drink a coke, i don't want a mouth full of gummy saliva from corn syrup.

All that processed stuff is from the devil

i would say the younger posters on here who grew up w/ HFCS sweetened coke are fine with it.

its us old farts who grew up for a decade or more w/ cokes sweetened with sugar who still remember how it used to taste.

just like the new awful plastic ding dongs & twinkies hostess sells these days; you never forget what they ONCE tasted like no matter how old you get.

Clames, I and maybe a couple of others went through the chemistry in the previous threads (as deep as appropriate for a TD thread) and if you are interested I will track those down and copy and paste my posts here.

Cliff's notes: as a result of a process called hydrolysis a couple of hours after bottling the cane sugar in Mexican Coke becomes chemically identical to HFCS. There are other differences such as an increased amount of total sugars and more salt in the Mexican recipe but attributing the differences to the initial sugars used is confirmation bias and myth.

i'm not arguing for how mexican coke is made; i'm arguing the process used back in the 70s and 80s resulted in a much less sweet, more satisfying in your mouth, type of soda.

i have no idea how they frankenstein this shite together these days; for all i know they threw out the old machinery and adopted a cheaper way to synthesize the sugar.

its like saying those sno-wizard machines from the 1930s used in NOLA crank out identical sno-balls to any other machine.

they're both just frozen water right? so there's no difference; people are idiots for insisting on buying sno-balls from people who still have sno-wizard machines making them.

TiL cokes sweetened with stevia, hfcs, maple syrup, monk fruit, agave and sugar all taste the same.
