Happy’s downtown once had a star studded group of ladies, when we used to hit happy hour there or sit on the Roux House patio. I’m still friends with some of those young ladies today, nearly 20 years later. Same for the original crew at Port Royal-Noah, Sheridan, Katey D, Kat, both Garretts, Phil, Garrison. I’d sometimes sit in there drinking for hours upon hours and they’d hand me a tab for $17, $19….good times

I remember Zuke! Seemed like everyone knew the guy. Hard to miss him.

I considered myself a regular but just hung out with my friends while there. Really didn’t get to know personally the bartenders and owners. Except for Jack. He knew exactly what I wanted. Gun and tonic. 2 limes. Would always tip $1 per drink and never had to wait long for one.

I met the lady owner a few times but I seem to remember she usually left before I usually got there.

I would give a lot to go back in time for just 1 more night with my friends at the Happy Note and have Jack as the bartender.

So she’s maybe mid-60s now. Wonder if she aged well?

I have some bad news.

Oh, I know. He’s at Bottega now. I’m trying to wrangle my way to a Highlands invite for one of the private functions they host now and then. Haven’t made the guest list yet.

Sadly, Red Lion is closed as well.
