With all that said, still better than anywhere in Louisiana.

If you think Midland Odessa is better than Lafayette or Mandeville you’re just super ignorant. I swear some of you guys just don’t have a grip on reality. It’s just amazing.

I don’t see how anyone could make a better argument than Port Arthur.

It never really got rehabilitated since that Hurricane/tropical depression/flood event 20 years ago. There is nothing but depressing relics of glory days from 75 years ago, dilapidated buildings, abandoned closed businesses, and fast food joints.

It’s inhabited by uneducated Vietnamese shrimpers, gang-bangers, and white trash methheads. When it doesn’t smell like sewage, it smells like rotting fish heads.

But it’s not bad….

Some people are fans of getting to where they need to go and not having to sit in congestion all the time. The rise of e-commerce has scrubbed away the need to be near shopping centers, so yeah i get it. I'm not saying they're right, but i can see how some people would rather live in isolated areas than in suburbs where everyone is stacked on top of each other in 1/10 acre lots. There are folks in this world that would consider areas like Valentine, NE as heaven on earth because it's like stepping back in time before Walmart existed - still have cell/internet with none of the issues of people.

Not Happy, Tx. Iived near there.

Happy is a town in Randall and Swisher Counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 602 at the 2020 census.

True, my ex wife (no pics) was from there…Greenville isn’t much bette

Greenville had some talent (usually on the swim team) when I was in h.s.

The best looking girl was Donna, who went to NOLA and married "a tough customer from New Orleans. She'd be in her early sixties now. I worked at Church's Chicken and she would come by and pick up chicken for her family. We were all smitten when she would come in. Of course, she was way out of our league.

Guy.

There’s an enormous landfill, and that’s about it.

Texas City make the short list a bunch.

Its only redeeming value is it relatively close to Clear Lake/Kemah/League City.

But Texas City proper is a complete hell hole of epic proportions. It doesn't have a small town feel, it doesn't have any suburban amenities, the bay shore is leveed so you have no views or commercial development and it is bordered by a chemical plant complex larger than the town itself. The fertilizer boat explosion blew the place off the map in the 1940's and they somehow made it worse since then.

Hate to say it because I love the people there...but Amarillo. Constant hair dryer in your face in summer, constant freezer fan in your face in winter

Having to tell your parents you couldn’t find a job in Louisiana

It's the opposite. Top of LSU's class ventures for jobs first in Texas, then if unsuccessful stay in Louisiana. There are 0 Meta, Oracle, Investment Banking, Mckinsey, BCG, Bain, Exxon, Chevron, Kinder Morgan, Big Law type roles in Louisiana. They only exist in Texas in a 500,000 square mile area of the South Central US.

I mean what is the best role in Louisiana? Reservoir engineer for Shell the last upstream company in Nola now Cox Operating is bankrupt. Maybe some law firms. Doctors, but you can be a doctor anywhere.

New Boston, Mt Enterprise, Atlanta, Paris, the very NE corner is so boring. Absolutely zero to do.

I’d say Midland/Odessa. Cost of living is really high believe it or not.

Bro Midland/Odessa is not bad at all. That place is booming with new houses, new hotels, new bridges , construction going on everywhere. That place is blowing up. Restaurants packed to the gills every nite. Yea it s an oilfield place and theres not alot to do but there is a minor league baseball team and a small college there
