Slippy I have several LSU friends that have retired to Hot Springs Village Arkansas...
they're wanting me to move up there when I retire...

guess I'll have to take a trip soon to check it out...

Bisbee, AZ is a very cool little town
Yep, and has a fairly mild climate considering the latitude. Much cooler than lower elevation cities.

Spent a week in Asheville last month, and that area is hands down #1 on our retirement list so far. Gorgeous place. Apparently the town is pretty liberal, but the people couldn't have been nicer and nobody was in your face. They also ditched masks at pretty much 100% when the mandate ended.

Good beer, outstanding views, good weather..

If you want the most bang for your bucks, Puerto Rico is where a lot of Americans are retiring. A good friend did a LOT of research & lifestyle & financials were at the top of his list. Puerto Rico was a slam dunk

I have an uncle with a home there. Crime is an issue (all of his internet/phone wiring to the home were just stolen). But cost of living and lifestyle were attractive.

Rocketman gets all the fanfare, but I think Queen’s ‘39 is the GOAT sad/lonely astronaut song.

No doubt… as long as I have a fireplace and power and tv I’m great.

no one who has ever spent any significant time there would tell you that. The weather is great, the women are beautiful, and I do know some financial benefits but abruptly ends there. The infrastructure is complete garbage and the people are lazy as frick. If you could completely insulate yourself from the outside world it would be worthwhile, but if you ever had to leave your house you would lose your mind.

Had a guy in our office last week who moved to Louisiana from Utah and was raving about how great it is here. Takes all kinds.

I have Taos in the back of my mind as a place I could end up. Nice scenery, still relatively inexpensive, and within driving distance of Louisiana.

Nice option, a lot cooler than southern AZ and geographically nicely located. But like most parts of the country, the nice areas in AZ (Gilbert, chandler, Scottsdale, flagstaff) housing market is crazy high.

I think Taos is pretty expensive.
