Somewhere warm and sunny with good offshore and inshore fishing

Yep. This is why I would retire to West Feliciana. It's close enough to everything I need. Family, LSU sports, New Orleans and the Alabama gulf coast.
Not to mention it's fricking beautiful up there.

Traveling somewhere =/= living and experiencing what that part of the country has to offer.

Troll on, bro
There is nothing wrong with wanting to live by family. That is a great thing but everyone should live outside of their comfort zone at some point, even if it is only once.

I already have a house at my final destination.
St Augustine Beach, Florida.

Yeah, that's just not true at all.
That said, I've lived in La my whole life because I got a free education at LSU then moved to New Orleans for a couple years and will be going to law school in Baton Rouge. Not because I'm afraid of or don't want to live elsewhere. It's just how it's worked out for me.
I know of literally hundreds of people (including my brother) that have left Louisiana and will never come back.

Yes it is. I know people who have never flown anywhere. The farthest they've ever gone is Destin.

This only happens in Louisiana. And is true of everyone from Louisiana. Totally.

Yup. There are a lot of people from LA that moved away and have no desire to ever move back. I have friends of mine that I grew up with that now live elsewhere...scattered all over the country and even a few overseas now. I know none of them would ever move back, only return to visit family.

I met a 25 year old Seattle native that had never left the city limits of Seattle, therefore, all Seattle natives are too scared to leave Seattle.

Honestly, I probably won't settle anywhere, and I probably won't ever "retire."
I would like to touch every country in the World though.

I'm 60, plan to retire at 63 God willing. One place I can do that and live comfortably is the Philippines. Illocos Norte for me.

Gonna split time between Golden, Co. and Cudjoe Key, Fla. Best of both worlds...

The wife and I were discussing this the other day. We want to move to the Tuscan countryside, maybe buy a small vineyard or setup a small farm. We want to just try to relax and live a laid back simple lifestyle. Something that we probably won't have until we retire.

Me saying I know a ton of people that moved away and will never return isn't bias though. It's facts. I have friends that have moved to Texas, D.C, AZ, California, China, England, NYC, etc.
I'm not even talking about myself, was talking about others I know.
